We are going up.. So get behind em or get gone.
btw. If we don't go up then so be it, theres always next season.

I will try a rational response then Towards the end of last season when Ritchie took over we were at best an average mid table side - and only there because we had a premiership quality stiker (Chopra) who we knew we wouldnt have had this season. The Club was still losing money at a rate of £2million (I think or was it 1.5 million) a year and several of the players were either out of contract or had options to leave. The players also clearly had morale problems coming from playing under Paul Hart. - I dont think many people will say that is an inaccurate summary. Now a year later The club is in 4th place in the league The players clearly enjoy playing for Andy Ritchie The club is losing less money and on track to break even in a years time Ritchie has signed generally well in the transfer market Also we have quite a young squad who if they dont gain promotion this season must stand a good chance of fighting for automatic promotion next season. Go on a year ago if you had been offered the above you would have been delighted wouldnt you. Of course there are things that can be improved. Everyone can see that the departure of Burns leaves a hole that needs to be filled. Not all of Ritchies tactical decisions have turned out to be correct and I am sure we can think of some other areas that need improvement but I will finish with a couple of questions Do you think we have had a better manager since Basset? (possibly Gudjon though I think that is arguable as he too had faults) Who would you appoint if you want to change the manager and where will the money come from to finance the rebuilding again of the squad as the new manager would undoubtedly want to bring in his own players. FYI Ritchie has currently our second best management record since WW1 see Paul.d's stats http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/barnsley_statistics And you wonder why some people take exception to your relentless negativity?
RE: I will try a rational response then Couldn't have put it any better myself. Before the start of the season, I said I didn't expect anything more than a mid-table finish & out of each cup at the first stage. Some may say that was being negative but it was based on what I'd seen the previous season. This season has seen a significant improvement. Yes we are inconsistent but in my 27 years of watching Barnsley, I've seen more inconsistent teams than I've seen consistent ones. I think Jonathan has a point that we shouldn't get carried away & start making plans for the end of season play offs just yet because Oldham will be right on our shoulders IF they win their game in hand. However, I do feel that the players & management team deserve a huge pat on the back for the way that they've progressed from where we finished off last time around.
Why does the anti- Richie brigade need a voice? It strikes me that most people are happy with his performance so far as manager. I must admit that I thought the season would be the same old mid table garbage, but I'm more than pleased with our current league position. I don't know how old you are Jonathon... althought my guess by your sticking the bottom lip out attitude that you are yet to sprout hair in intimate parts and can sing boy soprano in the school choir. When you have watched the reds for as many seasons as some on this board have you will begin to understand what true disappointment in a football sense means. By all means be a dissenting voice- but if you are going to fly off in a little sulk because people don't agree with out don't forget to take your bat and ball with you.
RE: Why does the anti- Richie brigade need a voice? Well comments like that just show what complete Barstewards some of you are. I'm offended by such comments, they were uncalled for and you can shove your football club where the sun doesn't shine for that!!!!! GOODBYE AND GOOD RIDDANCE!!!!
Are you a reds fan or what? Im sure most Wednesday fans would speak more positively about our manager and players. Any fan who is criticising the manager and players at this stage of the season should seriously take a long look at themselves, we are 4th in the league FFS, serious promotion contenders, 9 games left, we need the red army (including you Jonathan) to get behind the manager and players and make it happen. COME ON. Question for you Jonathan: do you hve an attention seeking dissorder?
RE: Are you a reds fan or what? I very much doubt he is a Barnsley supporter, because he keeps on saying "your football club" to other supporters...
