Genuinely the worst team selection and formation I've ever seen from us. That really isn't hyperbole and nothing to do with the result. I laughed out loud when I read it, as did the person with whom I watched the game. It's difficult to believe someone can get something so wrong and believe that omnishambles could possibly work.
Tactically very questionable - but whatever shape they were put in tonight I reckon would have made little difference. Too many players missing, too many square pegs in round holes (not all the manager’s fault - we have no right footed wide player of any description fit). And most importantly, far too many players way under par. Very, very poor. Formations and tactics are one thing, but if a player can’t play a five yard pass, if a centre half rashly goes for a ball he’s never going to get after two or three minutes then goes to ground even more rashly to concede a brain dead penalty right on half time, there’s not a lot the manager can legislate for here. Patch up and try and get something saturday, then two weeks for VI to get acclimatised and the squad to get fit.
You know it was bad when even you're driven into rant mode, Steve. Terrible from start to finish. I blame the white away kit.
Shiite performance, but... would most people have taken 2 draws from Watford home and Cardiff away? I think the honest answer is yes (notwithstanding the nature of tonight’s defeat). So 3 points from those 2 games is objectively a good outcome. A point at Derby (feels like a long shot admittedly) makes 4 points from 2 away games and Watford at home. Here’s hoping
