Can you provide any evidence that this is happening?

They do seem to genuinely want the best for the club, which wasn't the case with Lee and Conway. They're not trying to move us out of Oakwell.

I think they've made a real mess of this Collins situation, and the FA Cup situation this season. But I don't think they're that bad..? I don't understand the level of hate for them at all.

I may be in the minority here, but I genuinely couldn't care less about the "match day experience". We don't need the bells and whistles outside the ground or on the concourse, focus, and I mean 100% of it, must go into the playing squad. F*nny about with fanzones when the team is flying. Until then, forget all that stuff.

Could just imagine the uproar if the Trust had been removed and replaced by the club.
I’d agree though if they don’t pick it up next season.

A very good description of how we play

ST, in all the decades I've spent going to watch football I've only required two things. A football match and decent loo facilities. Nothing else impacts me.
If I want food I'll go to a restaurant.
If I want a drink I'll go to a pub.
If I want to watch tv I've got one in the corner of the living room.
All of the above provide better and cheaper options than a football ground. I know I dont speak for everyone but I think I speak for most when I say that the only relevant matchday experience is the delivery of a football match.

Then i guess what your saying is that you dont actually need to go to live games at all. Watching on TV or listening to the ‘wireless’ is enough.

So you dont need to go to the ground at all if there is no value in doing so. You can get score updates, watch live games on TV or listen to the radio right next to the loo at home. There you go match day experience improved further.

That's generally how I choose an Indian restaurant. The worse the decor, the better the food. The same rule of thumb usually works pretty well when choosing where to buy pizza and focaccia in Italy.

I agree to an extent. However, the fan zone at Lincoln for example, with local food trucks and a craft ale pop up bar, is a really excellent experience. I'd love something like that at Oakwell, where I could meet up with people for a chat and a decent bite to eat before the match. As I don't live in Barnsley, catching up with mates usually involves a quick hello when fighting my way to the bogs at half time.

I remember the chants, protests, toxic atmosphere, drop in ticket sales to get Conway out and it worked he was removed.
As this thread shows since Conway has gone not much has improved and ẁe still have a toxic atmosphere and drop in ticket sales.
Coaches leaving or bring sacked each season is not helping improve things.
    Patience and support is required.
I believe we now have decent people in charge, give them time to learn and develop.

I don't think they are hated. Most people agree they are nice people. It's just they are massively out of their depth and have no clue on how to move the club forward.

While many mistakes have been made, it's worth just pointing out what they have done in the last 18 months.

Removed Conway & Lee from the Board
Removed the debt through major capital investment
    Secured a long term lease
    Installed a new CEO
    Recruited a dedicated DoF
Recruited very well respected Club Secretary
Took us into two play-offs and a play-off final

Mistakes have definitely been made, and there will definitely be more ahead. Huge rebuilding ahead and jury is still out on key new roles. But this view that they are 'out of their depth' and 'have no plan', just feels like an over-simplified point of view. Building a promotion-chasing EFL Club is a really hard thing to do. People make it sound like it's easy and anyone could do it.

This time last year the same set of people took us to the play-off finals, after an incredible season. Fans have very short memories.

I haven’t read all the thread but everything will improve if we get a team out on the field that excite fans, graft their ******** off ENTERTAIN and get the right results for Barnsley fc if that eventually does happen again then the fans will comeback in their droves,it’s not much to ask is it ?
To the board because they do actually read this forum right? Get the right players in,Experience players that are right for the club and fck the spreadsheet next season . See you all next year ( unless we get massive on Tuesday and get a result)

All this season I have found the football extremely boring but on Friday night I was surprised as to how quick both halves seemed to go. Not the right result I appreciate but I wonder what changed to give me that feeling?

No, that's a mental thing to say. There's nothing better than being in the thick of it, in the stands, when the team is playing high tempo football and the crowd is up and engaged. That's what matters to most fans, what the team is doing. I'd take a football match where everyone turns up 5/10 mins before kick off and watch an amazing match over getting there an hour before to an awesome fanzone with multiple bars and eateries, face painting for the kids but then get subjected to a mediocre, laclustre performance from the team every single day of the week.

I know they're not. My point was that I'd rather watch a winning side and the 'experience" not be the best as opposed to the opposite. The way I see it, you can have the best match day experience ever, but if the team isn't playing well, people won't enjoy their day anyway.

For example, I don't come away from Oakwell after a win and think "if only there was more of a choice of food at half time *sad face*, I'm not bothered because we have won the game and I'm happy.

We only start bleating on about match day experience when we're not playing well and people are looking for any and all sticks to beat the club with.

Was anyone mentioning fan zones and food prior to our semi final play off games last year? Happy to be proven wrong, but I think everyone was too busy getting behind a team playing good football to actually care.

I'm sure if it was that simple everyone would do it and every team would be challenging at the top.

You know it’s right though any chance of glory and Oakwell would be rammed again any match day experience would be over taken by the atmosphere created by the Team and l never said it would be simple. All I ask is for the team to play entertaining football, work hard for each other and entertain the supporters and to be honest with the right players and coaches/ managers it could be made to happen,
