I'm starting to wonder whether Flitcroft actually knows anything about football. Why does he give a contract to, and keep playing, even in a friendly, someone who the incredibly Knowledgeable pundits on here know is crap. Flitcroft out !!

He's not my favourite player, but I see little point in slagging him off before the season has even started. I know this forum is all about giving opinions to stimulate debate, but you've done that now, there's little use in repeating it ad nauseam.

There's nowt wrong with giving an opinion of a player, good or bad, but constant criticism, like McNulty is getting at the moment, will have a detrimental effect. It certainly did on Wiseman last year.

Some folk don't rate McNulty. I happen to be one of 'em, but let's shurrup abut it for the minute because I think everyone has got the message.

Not that you should listen to me like, I'm not the boss of anyone.

To all the people who say he didn't play badly: am I the only one who saw him try and grab the leg of one of their attackers when he got beaten for pace?

We are talking about a seriously good French side here. The first goal beat Luke by sheer guile, it was a smart shot through a forest of legs, that Luke saw very late. He did well to get a hand on it. I didn't expect us to change teams wholesale for the second half but we gave them a really good match. I don't expect Jim or Bobby to be first choice starters, but if anyone pulls that **** like they did with with Wiseman last season, I for one will be all over it like a ton of bricks.

Seeing as none of us have a say in the club whatsoever, we might as well just close this board down.

If you mean the mistake for the third goal then what about the mistake which left their player one on one with Steele as well?

I was talking about the mistake that left him one on one. I don't think the third goal was a mistake because it was just a quality goal, no one in the squad could have stopped that, not even Wiseman's pace.

Plenty of other players make mistakes, it's just a certain few on here only concentrate on McNulty's and then feel they have to make a thread about it to highlight them, as if they haven't highlighted every slight fault in his game already. The Wolves goals were a perfect example, nothing to do with McNulty but he still got the majority of the stick. It's pathetic.

Bang-on. The abuse of individual players like McNulty shows a real lack of class and also a lack of understanding of how the game is played. Anyone who slagged McNulty off at the ground, on here, or on social media following the Wolves game deserved to feel like a right div when they saw the highlights.

all of our players aren't perfect and are going to make mistakes. that's why they play for us and not Barcelona.

I don't get all this 'one mistake' nonsense, I can think of 4 bad mistakes from last night off the top of my head.

Anyway, he's clearly the sort of player who needs a run of games to build his confidence up & get some consistency in his game like he had in his first season. The problem is unless we have an injury crisis he's not going to get that run of games, I hope he can get back to the standards he set in his first season but I'm struggling to see it.

One thing I'll say about last night though, except from Remy (if he stays) McNulty won't be defending against anyone with the pace Bordeaux had.

No, I saw it too and it was probably a worse mistake than the one for the goal.

It still doesn't justify the abuse he was being given in some of the seats around me in a pre-season friendly.

It's as if people are waiting for any opportunity to criticise him and it'll end up affecting him more and more, just as it did for Wiseman last season.

He deserves a bit of patience and encouragement from the stands. It's not as if everyone else is immune to making mistakes. Perhaps with that he'll return to the form of his 1st season, rather than his 2nd, which will give us further depth in the squad. The alternative is to hound him out of the club, which a minority would appear to want to achieve for some reason.

Flicker had enough faith to renew his contract. I have faith in Flicker's judgement which means he'll continue to get my full support when he's on the field.

Can't see how a run of games is going to improve his confidence when there's people in the stands actually counting the amount of mistakes he makes so they can post it on here later.

At least you're acknowledging the fact that he will make more than ten mistakes.

Is that a good way to get the fans on side by alienating all the supporters whether they're for him or not?
