That'd be me who quoted the £6m figure, simply because that's what I was told by Don Rowing how much tv money we'd lose were we to be relegated. I didn't simply pluck a figure out of the ether.
It's not BS, it's not rubbish and no it's not. Oakwell is owned by PC and the council in a joint venture contract.
He is a senior partner and head of sport at the law firm. They aren't his colleagues, he is their boss
Fully agree. But to be frank ... I am suggesting Brabners & Ben are fighting the same battle. Ben works for Maurice. Simple as that. I honestly think Ben was muddying the waters by bringing up the subjects he did with regards to why FFP has issues (mainly because the issues he stated are not what QPR, Leicester etc mentioned in their letter to the football league). Ben fully admitted that he was expecting the Barry Taylor & Maurice Watkins questions. He was prepared. He knows he can't defend what Maurice is doing with regards to FFP & BFC ... so he confuses the matter by bringing up 2 reasons why FFP is an issue for our club. It was pretty irrelevant ... the fact is that our Chairman is fighting the fines, levels of "acceptable" debt etc agreed within the FFP framework on behalf of clubs who have broken the rules ... which is to the detriment of BFC. Totally agree with you though ... if the obvious conflict of interests can't be resolved then Maurice needs to go. I was still very impressed with Ben. He spoke well & danced 'round the awkward questions beautifully ... just a shame he wasn't grilled properly.
Thought Mansford did a cracking job of protecting both Watkins and Taylor. 2 people whose actions and words - if true - are to the detriment of BFC in my opinion. At face value someone of Watkins' experience and contacts is invaluable for our club - but does it come at a price ? As for Taylor - why is he here ?
Yep. Ben was excellent. Deflected awkward questions like a seasoned politician. Hemsworth has an excellent point though ... it's not Maurice acting on behalf of QPR, Leicester ... it's only the people who work for him. On that basis I've just asked the girls in the office to murder Meatloaf ... nothing to do with me, your Honour. I assume without Watkins we wouldn't have got Ben & I have no doubt that Maurice has an amazing array of business cards. Does he come at a price? Only time will tell, but it doesn't look great. Barry Taylor looks like a bloke who sells sports socks on Barnsley Market. He was the bass player in a 70's soft rock band and his wife, Betty, is morbidly obese. He memorised the periodic table at the age of 9, but still can't tie his own shoes.
On the basis he's an absolute sky pilot I don't even consider anything Hemsworth says. Still reckon the preps being done for somebody buying BFC. And then implementing their own business plan.
You really don't need any comments from us to make you look bad. Betty might be morbidly obese, but she's still too good for you. I think we should arrange a "Get Away Boys" event for the QPR game. I'll bring the mushroom vol-au-vents.
