RE: Real problem for the Barnsley district Huggie, I am in exactly the same position as you. I have been priced out of Oakwell after seeing nearly every game there since 1974. It really makes my teeth itch when imbeciles on this board who are only just out of nappies start preaching to us about not attending games.
RE: Real problem for the Barnsley district err... I for one would not question your support. I'm lucky in that whilst I'm not well off by any stretch of the imagination I can whack the cost of of my wife's and my season ticket onto a credit card and not have to worry about it too much. I have been where you are now in the early 90s, but then it was less than a fiver to get into the East stand. It's the cost of football in general that could price it's self out of the reach of the masses.
Also East stand a couple of years ago £16 less £2 if you bought in advance, now £20 = a £6 increase or 42.9%.

season ticket for premier division season was... i think about £220 in the ora stand, this years its £275 for the same stand. i am sure peoples wages have gone up more than £55 in the last ten years. i know its quite expensive if you pay weekly but thats the point of season tickets. £60 for kids too is very good.
My Mum might get a letter for this ... ... but I can see my devotion to the club slowly sliding away - and I can only blame Gord Shepherder. In my opinion - he's the most uninspiring person on the planet. Oakwell should have been full of excitement & anticipation after our heroic play off victory ... but it was about as interesting as talking to Johnny Coachman about the Opta Index ratings of the "Brasil" under 11's. We have a Manager who has worked miracles & plays very attractive football ... he's been a resounding success. As our attendances dwindle & the interest fades away - Gord needs to find out who is responsible for this failure ... and all he requires is a mirror.
***** I don't think crowds are dwindling. floaters come to watch a winning team, not a team of unlucky losers.
Back to wins v Hull and Colchester greeted by 11,050 v Southampton. thats probably 10,000 of our lot. I bet more than 10,000 Barnsley mobiles texted VOTE SHAYNE on xFactor whilst chomping through the 3rd bag of Doritos in their new deedas tracksuit bottoms.
RE: Back to wins v Hull and Colchester don't agree. Clubs done well to keep plenty of those fans who watched during 1996/7. Before then it was 6000 a game.
RE: Back to wins v Hull and Colchester But 14k when we got relegated from the Championship with a team who couldn't kick a ball in a straight line. You know **** all.
RE: Really? you mean the 20,000 that watched them in Div 1 or them in Prem? geordies are thick c,unts anyway. Dunt count
Bitten my tongue long enough - here we go One day if you're lucky enough you may have a family. Then you will learn that priorities change. Yes there are good deals for families, but not all kids want to go to all games, not all parents can afford to fork out for 4 or so season tickets at start of season. Not all members of 1 family are interested. There are inevitably other things that crop up that get in the way of getting to football games. It's not just the entry fee, it's the refreshments, the petrol, the parking, the souvenirs, the dealing with the kid that decides he's/ she's bored 15 mins into the game. It's keeping the other half happy when they have been left at home "holding the baby", so that you can spend 4 hours of the precious weekend making yourself miserable and paying £20 + for the privelege. Believe me, it's not as simple as you think.I so far have managed to juggle my life to make the home games & the odd away one (never used to miss until I had a family), but it can cause problems. I suggest that you stop trying to tell people what they can & cannot afford when you know naff all about the situation, & concentrate on getting some life skills of your own. Sorry but you are just not qualified to make a comment on what people "should be able to afford".
RE: Back to wins v Hull and Colchester Paul Gibbs was underrated imo. Takes time to build up loyalty to a club. 2 seasons int enough espec when they get served ***** and chips most weeks.
You need a bigger spade. Time shmime. Hudds got promoted to League One, went mad with their Marketing, created a load of hype & sold shed loads more tickets. We decided to just "wait & see who turned up". Maybe you should stick to what you're best at - letting me scuttle your Missus.
Pfff. That's Muslimist that is. Glad to hear you think BFC are doing such a great job filling the ground. I hope Fricklestone United get relegated to the Yorkshire Girls U14's League.
