Yeah. Lost one in fourteen. Just moved into the playoffs. Second top scorers in the division. Game in hand on three of the five above us. Aged terribly.
Thought he got tactics spot on 1st half against posh the high press against them playing from the back lead to both our goals credit where its due looked like homework had been done. Today he got totally out witted they let us have the ball and hit us on the break created 3 good chances 1st half 1 was a sitter they skyed. 2nd half at 1 down it was obvious they would commit men forward and try to get a goal back we couldn't handle it and had no answers the subs were mind boggling. Some slate Collins no matter what others would defend him if he played liam Roberts upfront. Sometimes he's hard to defend.
We were bad today. But Wigan were decent and are in a false position based on their points deduction. we’ve moved into the top 6 and haven’t lost in ages. Are we amazing? No. Are we sometimes poor like today? Yes. Are we doing pretty well overall? In my opinion yes. I think the problem is some posters decided early doors Collins was no good and are desperate for that to be the case. When the reality is he isn’t amazing but is doing a decent job with the cards he has been dealt. Also because some people have decided the league is poor it means we should be dominating every game, which we’re obviously not going to do.
I just wish he would stop these daft substitutes that put us under pressure. Absolutely no need for the watter sub today especially so early in game
This was a question I always wanted to ask you. Also wondered if you can recall the last time a Manager got pelters for going so long unbeaten?
Lies, damn lies and statistics? We may be second top scorers, but we've conceded more per game than any in the top 7. Of those 3 teams we have a game in hand over.....they are 10, 5 and 3 points ahead of us, so it's more a case of needing to win those games to stay in touch rather than leap frogging anyone.
Personally I think from day one he has been the scapegoat/focal point of what happened in the Summer, from the players who left/didn’t sign, Duff, cancelled friendlies etc. He clearly hasn’t helped with his apparent personality and some of the performances but I agree I think a lot is unwarranted.
I've got no issue with his personality, and he seems to be getting a decent number of points together somehow. My problem with this season is that we just look awful, far too much of the time. Misplaced passes, defensive errors, players not seeming to be on the same page. I wouldn't put Collins anywhere close to Schopp's bracket, but my abiding memory of that time is watching move after move break down and wondering what the hell it is they can be doing on the training field all week for every run to be so far from the ball that's played. And quite often I get that same feeling when watching this team. I still think he's playing with a deck that's a good few cards short though (roll on January), and even given that, as I said above, the points keep on ticking up somehow.
Not me. I loved Val. He had a plan and got buy in from the players. Sadly I see neither with Collins.
Vals football wasn't great on the eye but we were well organised something which we havent been this season, he knew how we wanted to play and we had a identity, he got the best out of the players he had at his disposal and a team who was one of the lowest costs to assemble were beating teams like Bournemouth on their own pitch who's one striker alone cost nearly 30million. I couldn't understand the negativity even if it wasn't too pleasing on the eye we never had the players to go toe to toe with Bournemouth and the rest and football them to death.
I just find him boring as ****. His teams play like a pound shop Paul Hart but results dictates he gets to the end of the season. The Home games are awful. The quality of football and entertainment are often really poor. Given the poor quality of the league any finish outside the top 4 would be pretty average most teams would kill for our midfield options and we have 2 quality Wing backs though choose to play one somewhere else and two forwards regularly delivering with one of the ten hottest prospects in the EFL as back up. A quality keeper. Yes we have issues at centre half but Duff had similar disadvantages and managed basic organisation. Collins needs to learn fast to get his teams to play at different tempos and to use subs better or sometimes not at all. Schopp got more aggro on an average Thursday than Collins has since he signed.
We are three points better off this season. At this stage. Our goal difference is 11 better. We’ve won 50% of games, same as last season. We’ve lost 5 so far, compared to 8 last term. We’ve come from behind to win, twice. Didn’t manage it at all last season. People talk about it being a weaker division, but two of the relegated clubs have huge point deductions. Pompey and Bolton are currently averaging more points than Ipswich and Plymouth were at this point. Derby are on par with what Wednesday were doing, and are a bigger club let’s be honest. The facts I’ve just outlined aren’t designed to disregard last season. Or to big up this season. They are just facts. In my time watching the Reds, only under Stendel have we been better placed (by two points) after 24 games in this division. Here’s to an equally good, if not better second half of the season.
Inarguable. But like I said above, it's hugely impressive to put stats like that on the board while still looking generally useless! I'll definitely take it, but it's just been a good while since I felt that I could take or leave watching us on any given match day. Maybe it's just me.
It isn’t just you Sestren. I’m bored senseless. Despite having a season ticket I’m taking a break from games for a few weeks after Saturday. It actually made me angry how we played, and I don’t like angry me. The Charlton game is the only time my 11 year old has been in about 2 months and he said he’s not going again while Collins is the manager. He’s found better things to do, which is sad as it’s always been our day out together. Anyone can make stats suit their agenda. I watch it with my own eyes. And it’s tripe. Good players playing tripe football in a tripe league against tripe teams because the manager is tripe. We could well sneak into the playoffs purely because the league is awful. But as a couple of people have already alluded to, it’s a waste of time as the head coach isn’t brave enough to try and win. When you’re clinging on grimly against the likes of Port Vale and Wigan something is badly, badly wrong.
