Was I abusive or nasty to North Yorks Red in my reply? Nope not at all.

I will call people out on stuff when they're being disrespectful to others on here- we already know we have people from different backgrounds on the BBS, so why do you reckon its ok to make jokes about people's sexuality and randomly liken it to batsmen being called batters? Makes you come across as a massive homophobe!

My sons gay so i can guarantee theres no homophobia here, you're trying to turn what was a bit of fun thread into a slanging match but sorry i'm not buying into it' you are obviously a very very serious person and if i've offended you i apologise..

You've not offended me at all, I just don't get why you reckon it's ok cracking jokes about people like that. It's not me you need to apologise to, not that you clearly feel you need to with the sarcasm there.

I have to work and support people who suffer from ignorance and **** like this every day, so sorry if Im not not pissing myself at your hilarious jokes and comparisons. People kill themselves due to feeling different to everyone and taking the piss out of them doesn't help.

Just because your son is gay and might find it funny (doubtful, probably just humoring you) doesn't mean anyone else does.

Isn't Superman technically an alien? Therefore it's a kind of intergalactic/interspecies love, which I don't think should be bound by human standards.

Its all about context mate' theres nothing from all the posts in this thread meant to be offensive' its just the way you have chosen to take it' my son has no trouble at all with gay jokes' infact he makes them himself all the time' you are certainly more offended than he is...

Superman is fictional, he can be anything you want him to be & it'll be ok.

It's funny you should mention that about the dinner lady/lollipop lady thing because we do have a man at work who when I asked him what he used to do he said he used to be a dinner lady. Obviously i was a bit surprised at that and said something along the lines of 'im surprised you said dinner lady and not dinner man or a dinner assistant or something' and his reply was nice and simple, 'nah it's a dinner lady, it's what people have always called it and what the kids called me.' fair play to him but it did surprise me a little

Indeed . English is a bit of a funny language where the definitions of words can change and often do . Linesman dosent have to mean that a man has to do it . Now both sexes do the deed then the definition of what linesman means changes and linesman merely becomes the job description .

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay

Ironically the word gay is a perfect example of when words change definition and is quite normal in the evolution of any language . That things get converted into political footballs is merely a sign of the times .

Someone had to say it. I didn't think it would take 30 replies though. This forum is certainly becoming a bit more open minded.

It would be a lot more radical if young Jon was sh@gging his mum

There is a superhero in all of us. We just need the courage to put on the cape. -Superman- A great quote from an inspiring figure!

Weird that this is the only issue some people have with the plot of Superman. It’s not a documentary about super beings from Krypton is it now.

I wasn't likening anybodys sexuality to batsmen/batters it was a reference to what seems to have become the norm with gender not being added onto words like batsMAN' linesMANand superMAN' absolutely nothing to do with sexuality..

I'm not sure why you're dredging this up again if I'm honest, are you trying to get a bite from me or something? You've already replied to this comment yesterday.

The thread was about sexuality and then you went off at a tangent for no reason talking about batsmen being called batters now etc. basically the whole "its political correctness gone mad" crap.

the thing is where do we stop though?
I’ve not got anything against anybody, race ,creed, religion etc.
To my mind though humour is humour and as long as it’s not aimed at an individual or obviously offensive I don’t see how you differentiate.
Somebody is almost always going to take offence at something , but I’ve had a good laugh with vicars about religion, gay friends about sex etc.
My comment about losing track was intended in a purely lighthearted manner, although I have to say I do get a bit bemused by the constant changes.
