Well they wouldn't be making a profit would they as any surplus would be spent on infrastructure.

Investment has been avoided due to the companies waiting for the contracts for difference to be finalised , you would not enter a competition if you did not know the rules

Well at least now I'll be able to try and sleep better knowing its not the power suppliers fault that the prices have shot up and that the billions that have been taken out f the industry since privatisation.

Its democracies fault no gv't wanted to use its vote pulling investment on infrastructure for a power industry . the private sector that were too happy to take over to rape and pillage and nod their heads when told that if they took over that they would have to invest and are now shirking that responsibility,

The gov't. Should spell out what s expected of these companies and if they don't comply minimum compensation should be paid and renationalisation in the British interest.

They are gonna bring all the favours in and use all the dirty tricks they can to savage this proposal by Milliband, even the slug Mandelson has had a snipe but he's in their pockets. Nobody can tell me they're doing all this spouting about lights going off and trying to frighten people because they have the british peoples interest at heart whist denying some of them heating etc.
No they're doing it to protect they're profits

It's a brave mood to take on the greedy giants of this particular industry. Needs doing but the hollow threats will keep coming. In terms of investment they have dragged their feet thus far so not much changing there.

I'd just like to add that there is a great contrast between fire fighters and teachers fighting cuts to their working conditions and these shysters threatening blackouts if they don't get their own way. One are vilified the others are passed off as bastions of the free world.

Whilst I agree with you, I don't actually think they were "threatening" blackouts, I think they were saying that would be a natural progression of a lack of investment caused by freezing prices.
Interesting comment on Question Time as well that said they'd just whack up prices by as much as they can before the election.
