    Bit of a history flashback.........

    Back in the 1940's the Israeli resistance movement (Irgun) were a dangerous bunch if you happened to be British and occupying what used to be Palestine. Once Israel was formed (ie the British got booted out) it later went on to become the right-wing Likud Party and it's members became part of the Israeli Defence Force - Ironically this is the same army that is now bombing Lebanon.

    It's perhaps even more ironic that the Israeli government currently claims that Hamas have no right to govern Palestine (despite free and fair elections) because they are a "terrorist group". Hmm perhaps someone ought to remind them of their own history as these facts and this piece of history seem to have been forgotten.

    and the Irgun weren't the extremists.........

    Avraham Stern left the Irgun to form Lehi, (also known as the Stern Gang) which was much more extreme in its methods. Unlike the Irgun, they refused any co-operation with the British during World War II and even attempted to work with the Nazis to secure European Jewry's immigration to Israel.

    On November 6, 1944, members of the Lehi underground Eliyahu Hakim and Eliyahu Bet Zuri assassinated Lord Moyne in Cairo

    ======

    Assassination, nothing to do with terrorism. The act of freedom fighters. The IRA will tell you that. I think the Mountbatten family might see it differently though.
