I'd have opened with Jack Leach and Sibley to bore them to death.

It’s not going to happen but it would be an incredible achievement to win this now for England. Would go down in history

Pitch doesn't look quite so sub-standard when it's our spinners bowling, and their batsmen batting.

Might be a case for picking an extra seamer and having Root as second spinner in the next test.

Sibley, out playing across the line. It's not rocket science lads

Just ride out the new ball before the big hitters come in.

We make spinners look like great mystery spinners, by missing straight balls.

Very lucky. Hawkeye suggesting it him just about outside off stump. Looked bang in front!

I’m guessing it’s because the inside the edge of the ball hit him on the pad rather than hitting him flush, so it looks like it’s more in line than it is. Looked plumb though.

It’s umpires call if less than half of the ball is outside the line or less than half is hitting the stumps etc. It’s due to variations in the tracking etc that less than half a ball is not considered enough to overturn the on-field umpire.

The commentators apparently don’t know this. There’s nothing the third umpire can do about it.

It won't matter. Root doesn't like opening the batting which is what he'll have to do now tomorrow.

Kohli having a go at the umpire there reminded me of that famous spat between Mike Gatting and Shakoor Rana in 1987.

I bet Kohli gets away with it!

I very much doubt that England will still be batting at tea tomorrow, I'll be impressed if they're still going at lunch if I'm honest.

Not quite, it’s an aging ball which is different to opening the batting.

That was more not out than the Indian one where he wasn't playing a shot and DRS gave him the "benefit of the doubt" - not that there was any.

We are making a pitch their number 11 didn't struggle on on the same day look like a minefield. Sibley was far too defensive and got out to an average ball. Leach was brought in to see the day out and swung his bat to get caught.
