They are still picking him off his reputation. It was thought he could "bat a bit" in the county game... Crawley cashing in well on the attacking field.
Shocking batting for JB there. Gap in his defence like he had Paul Gibbs in there, then a waste of a review!
Bairstow didn't even speak to Crawley about that review. Just had a bit of a strop, insisted it was going down leg, and reviewed a plumb lbw. They're probably starting to wonder if they should've picked Bess for Broad now. Never a good sign in a day/night test when you're losing quick wickets in the daylight.
We're heading back to the nineties with chopping and changing the team all the time and having a soft under belly to our batting.
Nowhere near the bat and rushed a review without asking his partner. Dunno what Bairstow was thinking.
It could be a really interesting test, this. The ball will spin and spin sharp, but it also looks like it will both seam and swing(I'm really looking forward to Anderson getting hold of this pink ball, hopefully under lights). Both teams have gone different directions with team selection, so we shall see who gets it right. One think looks certain, the draw won't be in play!
He isn't guaranteed a place as he hasn't scored any runs in ages, his record in his last 20 tests or so is appalling.
