Hey, do you mind if I ask what the reason is you're not on a fix? I know there may be a good reason why a fixed doesn't suit you, but if there isn't, you could save a lot by getting on one now.

Let me know if I can help.

My mortgage is a good one, tracks 0.99% above base rate. Took it out before the 2008 crash. I’ve been paying next to no interest and continue to really. I think the base rate was about 5% when I took it out (October 2008), and it tanked to a lot lower very quickly.

Which seems good on the face of things but my house has barely recovered to be worth what I paid for it in 2008. When we’d been here for a year, it was barely worth half what we paid.

The interest rate has gone up as the US one has. Sterling will depreciate if we didn't put up our rate, causing imports to go up more, fuelling further inflation . The idea we are independent & Brexit gave us our freedom is completely shown to be bowlax. No man or country is an island. Any amount of flag waving & sabre rattling does not change the truth.

And all the while the govt stoke a trade war, continue to lie about the impact of brexit on NI and do the bare minimum to help the struggling citizens they profess to represent.

You seriously suggesting that the '70's when we were the "Sick Man of Europe" with inflation at 20%+ we were all better off
True there were some benefits in the '70's and I dont regret growing up then but to claim that rampant inflation was one of them is one of the most outrageous statements I've ever heard
You would doubtless be saying how great it was in the Blitz if you had lived through it

And yesterday in Parliament every single Conservative MP voted against the windfall tax on energy companies such as Shell who have just recorded unprecedented
record profits. Meanwhile our energy bills double.
And yet there are still people in working class, struggling towns and city's up and down the country voting for them!

    FFS wake up!

With 24 hour news and social media being rammed down everybody throat, people these days strangely worry about things that are totally out of their control. Is there any wonder there's all this mental illness about. My advice would be turn the news off come off social media and for f'eck sake get on with your life. Cos it will be gone before you know it.

And Ofgem are pushing to update the cap every 3 months, while prices are still sky-high despite a significant fall in the wholesale cost of gas...

The worse part of that is the 'market stabilization' announcement.
Which means if wholesale prices fall and a new firm gets a switcher, it must pay 85% of difference to old firm. Killing hopes of firms launching cheaper deals.
    Absolutely disgusting.
