It says in the Chron that the Peruvian FA wanted to see the original documents rather than a faxed version. Perfectly understandable, when you apply for a passport the first time you need to send the original birth certificate rather than a photocopy so it's a perfectly reasonable request.

Once that request is made it is going to take a few days to courier things over to Peru, it's not like hopping on a train to France.

Once there it'll sit in someone's in tray for a day or two (there won't be someone staying late just to deal with an enquiry from Barnsley Football Club) and then it'll all be sorted.
