So what you are saying is that the size of the club is not important (obviously not if the likes of leeds, leicester etc can go down) and so cryne is wrong to start excusing davey by saying we are a small club
I think we have played "decent football" Unfortunately though it doesn't result in the ball going in the opposition goal enough
agreed thanks for 'saving' us PC, after doyle had like but ta anyway. but any chance of passing the running of the club on to someone else? And I don't mean just saying once a year that you don't fancy doing it anymore, i mean actively finding someone to do it for you.
it is not an excuse but it can be expected that it will be harder because the odds are againt you given the size of the club, squad, gates, financial backing, maybe PC did not realise how much harder it is? I do not know? I am just not looking at the few clubs similar size to us as who have done well as a reason to get on the managers back. Just my opinion though
The lengths Cryne is going in support of Davey are very worrying. I`ve always thought PC was the stability in our club now I aint sure anymore. Back tracking on this seasons objectives and laying the blame at anyones door bar his manager makes him look foolish in my eyes.
Relatively speaking not really. Wonder if Burnley would be in the playoffs if Patterson had been KOd after 15 games.
Any idea what eagles cost? Burnley only paid for three players in the summer, patterson for £1m (so less than hume then), McDonald for £500k and then whatever eagles cost. Did we have to pay anything for Steele, Colace, El Haimour or Moore? Hume Cost £1.2m alone.
also at the point Hume got injured Patterson had scored 7 goals to Hume's 4. So almost double then and he was cheaper.
thanks dyson So quite cheap then really considering how high they've finished. 3 money signings versus dozens of ****
Wasnt signed in the summer So I take your Thompson and raise you a Maltese international signing, Daniel Bogdanovic
RE: Wasnt signed in the summer there's no doubting that they've had an incredible season, 2 great cup runs and to be within one game of the Prem, Coyle should be up for Manager of the Season for sure. That said, Charlton and Norwich spent more than us on signings, wages and loans, so did many of the teams just above us.
On the one hand PC seems to be selling the club as a whole a bit short, which may not be the best thing to do at a time when we're trying to attract players to the club. On the other hand players already know we are one of the smaller clubs in the division in terms of crowds, so PC has gone a different route and championed our manager and the professionalism he has brought to the club. I think it's time for a change of manager, but PC obviously doesn't. There's no point at all in sticking with a manager, but then failing to publicly back him, that would just be half arsed. PC has decided to stick with Simon Davey and now he's publicly building him up, which in my opinion is the right way to go.
Got to remember they've been fortunate with the amount of players they've been able to use - I think they've used the least amount this year. We had Hume out for a 3/4 of the year, loss of Howard, injuries & suspensions consistently through the year (Colace/Anderson/Moore) which led to chopping and changing and we know that our wider squad isn't the best. Consistent side always helps....
