And yet whenever I say that the small scoreboard is not fit for purpose, that the bare breeze block walls lining the stadium are not inviting to new supporters and that having a tannoy system that doesn't work and TVs that aren't switched on all add up to make the club look poor when we really should be doing these things better and improving facilities to encourage more people through the doors I am told that I am the devil.

I've not said that. Rectifying things like that needs doing but it's not going to bring extra fans flocking in by the thousand either.

I can't remember doing that. I'm sure you're better informed than me though.

I didn't mean you, I seem to remember that you agreed the scoreboard was ****. There are a lot of people who do have that attitude though and my post was aimed at them.

I don't think that what I suggest will add thousands but if it only add sjust 100 that's over £30k per season

I wouldn't argue there. There is no quick fix though. I think I remember Patrick Cryne saying we were already one of the best supported clubs per head of population around. The only ways I can see to significantly increase support permanently would be a sustained stay in a higher division over quite a few years or a huge subsidy on ticket prices like Bradford have done.
Maybe also have a look at the way GAA is run in Ireland too. I know I keep rattling on about Ireland but the way gaelic sport is rooted into local communities is striking.

I wasn't going in the '70s. Just what I've heard.

Ah, maybe you should stick to the facts then.

I remember hearing Patrick say that too and it annoyed me a bit because he seemed to be saying 'we are already well attended so no point trying more'

It's two different ways of interpreting it then. I heard it as an explanation of the difficulty involved in increasing it.
To my mind there is no army of 5 or 10 thousand regulars out there waiting to just be wooed into Oakwell. It would take a LOT of effort even to bring in an extra 2 or 3. By that I mean regulars, not bandwagon jumpers. That doesn't mean we shouldn't try though.

You're wasting your time responding to posts like that - I'm certainly not going to bother. I'm struggling to work out where I have ever said that mediocre is fine by me, because I know I never have. Some people just have trouble understanding, so it's best to just ignore them.

Something that really pleases me, is that McBurnie really wants to play for us.
By the sounds of things he could have joined any number of Clubs, but having seen
how much Hecky wanted him and probably after a quiet word with Ryan Hedges, he
opted to join us. As somebody has already said ,with suspensions and injuries and the quality
of the opposition we need to be able to ring the changes, so we'll probably need to involve all of our
strikers going forward. Another player with a great attitude for me is Cameron McGeehan.
Sounds very much as though he can't wait to get into the first team and hopefully start contributing
with his fair share of goals. Very optimistic for the future.
