In an ideal world people could sit in the stands of any club among football fans wearing whatever shirt they like and enjoy the game together, I've always liked how when Liverpool play Everton you see blue shirts in the Kop because they're friends/family and they know as long as they're not winding the home fans up, they'll be safe to enjoy the match.

Unfortunately that's not possible with other clubs, a mixture of tribalism and lack of brain cells means even if youre behaving yourself, if you've got your clubs shirt on away from your town there is always a chance some morons will take a disliking to you and want to cause you harm.

Exactly this. I'd hazard a guess that if the guy had been sat in the East Stand or even in any other part of the Ponty, rather than in gangway 1 of the Ponty with the morons, he would have been fine. If he was sat minding his own business then the problem is with the morons not him.

Didn't a leeds fan get caught in the esl when we played them and a women set about him? Pretty sure that happened. If you turn up to incite trouble with a rival top and what not I've not much sympathy.

I agree, however, I fail to understand why they had to wear a Wednesday scarf (if indeed that is true) If I wanted to ‘mind my own business’ (I guess you mean by that not drawing attention to yourself) then that’s the last thing I would’ve done. It was at least stupid, at worst trying to give it the big I am A Wednesday fan on the Barnsley Kop showing my colours. It’s all pathetic I agree, but you have to realise that’s how it is

If you want to go watch a local rival you should be able to. But only an idiot would go in their own club colours and sit in the most raucous home fans end, wouldn't surprise me if it was some sort of stunt with videos appearing on Fowls talk showing them taking the the ponte end and mocking us "Dingles". If they genuinely wanted to watch the game why not sit in the West Stand I'm sure they wouldn't have been troubled in there.

They probably didn't hear it. Do we need a tannoy announcement if only 5 idiots are singing it? A few more join in when it gets to the Leeds bit ( Is that racist towards our West Yorkshire neighbours?). Point is, you can hardly hear it in the Ponty End never mind the control box.

If none of our stewards heard it yet I could hear it loud and clear halfway down the east stand then something is definitely up. In fact the bloke sitting behind me has a hearing aid and he said "that will be another tannoy call then" when he heard it.

Wasn't there a Sheff Utd fan sat in the corner stand last year in his shirt - crowd spotted him and he was asked to move?

Last season there were times I didn't hear it in the east stand and it got announced. I don't think it's the Leeds part that's the problem. Imagine if we sang a song about Muhammed. Just no need is there. I don't think we should be singing songs about any religious leaders at a game of football.

Its not racist to me, but then again I'm not a Leeds fan lol.
It never ceases to amaze me though what ignorant sh*it fans at most clubs chant, and think is funny and clever!.

I don't think football chants are known for their poetic integrity. Our chants are rubbish tbf. Have been for as long as I remember. Almost all of em are either copying somebody else's, or just straight embarrassing.

Not singing as such, but after 15 minutes the other night everyone around us was shouting "Jesus Christ" in unison.
    It was almost a chant.
