Totally agree. Footballers have a short career. Now Stones has the security of being paid handsomely for the next 5 and a half years at a top 5 Premier league club and the chance to play in Europe next season. Who can blame him for moving? Football is a business, footballers are employees. It reflects society in a way. If a company offered me a £500,000 a year for 5 years, i would find it hard to turn down, especially when the company you work for allow you to speak to them. It is just the timing of the transfer that is hard to swallow but Wigan/Everton knew what they were doing, they had 31 days, but left it until the 31st. Think they were both ready to hijack the lowest bid.

I agree with you but Bobby won't be playing many if any matches under Flitcroft

He may be quality, but RWB is the most physically demanding position on the field. He was never the quickest in his prime and now he just won't be able to get up and down the pitch like Stones or JOB could.

Nicky Eaden, Neil Thompson (especially) and Darren Barnard were pretty slow wing backs. They were also three great wing backs.

The "Hassell is too slow, past it, legs have gone etc etc etc" brigade grow in number on here, and it's laughable. The bloke never plays often enough (under Hillcroft) to get up to speed/match fitness, yet on the all-too rare occasions he does get selected he's generally been our best defender/midfielder.
