This is a bizarre way to view things - Pre Struber we had played 16 and had 9 points and the side hadnt won in 15 games even if you ignore the freak result first game we were averaging 0.4 ppg heading for a total number of points of around 21 and we would be mathematically down sometime this month Since Stuber he has turned us around and we are averaging 1.25 ppg - 3 times as many as we were before he arrived and a points total which if maintained over the season would get us 58 points which we would all certainly have taken at the start of the season - of course if we maintain that to the end of the season from where we started that gets us to 46 points - enough to keep us up around half the time He was given an almost impossible task when he took over - lets face it we had all already decided we were down and were discussing whether we could even pass Rotherhams record low total of points If we get to between 45 and 50 points and go down I dont see how you can blame Struber - we will be relegated because we underperformed massively for the first 3rd of the season and dropped on a higher than average season for points to stay up the argument we have been in the bottom 3 longer under Struber is totally illogical
Looks like last one art the door is always sh.t narrdays no matter what they did previous of any note.
Struber also had the opportunity to bring his own players in and had a squad that had played half a season together. Stendel was not allowed to sign an experienced 29 year old defender - he had to make do with Anderson and Diaby, thrust into the side before either were ready. He had his number 9 sold days before the transfer window ended and so all pre season plans went out the window. He didn't have an Oduor who was ready to step up. He didn't have a Chaplin who had 'acclimatised' to the level and found form. But hey, he's left us so he must have been ****.
Not sure too many of us are blaming Stendell - but you seem keen to blame Struber if we go down - personally I would blame the stupid transfer policies in the Summer - maybe if stendell had been able to either keep pinnock or bring in an experienced defender things would have been a lot different
Completely agree with that - maybe I'm being a bit harsh on him. I just wish he'd be more flexible with this fecking diamond.
Woodrow was always number 9. If you mean Moore, he was always leaving. He didn't even feature in pre season because it was so certain, so don't try and rewrite history.
Sorry. His number 19. And I'm not rewriting history. I'm stating a fact. Moore was sold just before the window ended and was inadequately replaced - granted he probably knew he was leaving. But instead we got Schmidt. That's a fact.
I dont think he has been replaced. Read the article just under the video, Dane says they bid for him at the beginning of the window, months before Moore was even talked of being transferred. So he definitely wasnt his replacement https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2019/august/schmidt-2023/
Why does it have to be he was ****? Couldn’t just the reality be that for all the reasons you cite and maybe more it just wasn’t working for Stendel and the club was left with a choice of continuing as they were or making a change. Often in football people say it just needs a new voice.
You said “his pre season plans went out of the window”, which just isn’t true is it? He clearly made the plans knowing Moore was leaving.
No we weren't at that stage. Daniel had ideas, the board weren't prepared to listen to him. As I've said look at other teams where the manager has remained the same, they're not necessarily doing worse or not winning games. He would have turned it round no question about it.
Maybe he would Helen we will never know, but my response was to about he must have been ****, which I know was a dig at people. I was giving an example of how people could part ways that doesn’t have to be they are just ****, not an actual occurrence.
