RE: Nicely sidestepped. He's popular with the fans - a known name that doesn't need to spend the first 15 matches having fans sit there saying he's ***** just because that's what Tarn fans do. He wasn't (on the face of it) expensive all things considered. He said he wanted to play for us (always helps). He'd more than likely do the job. I'll await and see what you (don't) know, but I'm betting that you know sweet FA about who we're attempting to sign. After all anyone can post up with "I know who're signing and it's a big name". Just sit back and pray to god the club DO sign absolutely anyone who's even half known and then you can come out with "told you so". Dull. 0/10.
the concept behind this thread is NOT : how well our season went. Which was pretty decent overall is : about how we get hyped up about big name signings which then come to sod all. -- HTFH.
RE: Those are our Ego Defense Mechanisms kicking in Yeh ! never really wanted to do the deed with Gabby Logan
McFrail,McFail... whatever..no loss? Not if we find a more effective man cheaper. For his talents he was / is an underperformer. Work shy fop.
Chopra..a bit of a gamble. I would have been pleased had we signed him but not all costs.
It remains to be seen where we are in 3 or 4 weeks time in the forward playing staff.
Cant see GS/PC wanting to give up championship status easily so I would guess at least 2 or 3 good signings are on the carrds.

Question why do they have to be big names ?
96/97
Marcelle, who ?
Appleby, who ?
Bosenci.... er Jovo, who ?
Thompson, who ?
Wilkinson, looking for a quiet retirement ?
They were names at the end of that season and Wilkinson flogged his guts out !!
We've paid out too much money since for legends in their own lunchtimes, lets not forget we only have to finish higher than three other teams to stay in the division.
Me I think we'll do ok in the division but I always did when we were a team of no names from 1981 to 1997
Dave

Eh? 1) His popularity allowed him to score 17 times in 39 appearances against league one defences. 2) Cost. None of us know how much Chopra wanted so I can't see how you can say he wasn't expensive. 3) I'd expect anyone who signs for the club to want to play for us. 4) I doubt Ritchie would approach anyone he reckoned wouldn't "more than likely do the job." And, let's face it, he's the man responsible for a promotion winning football side, not you or I. The source who allowed me to confirm the MC and SM moves on Sunday night has told me that we ARE showing ambition with our targets, that's all. I've never, as your rant suggests, made any indication that I have information regarding actual names. The aggression you display, on the internet, when disagreed with is clouding your thinking. Just as well you're not so cocky in person innit?
Its not just Chopras goals its his workrate that makes him Nardiello hasnt got the same passion or workrate for the job, although he can finish quite well Chopra for me anytime, in fact im not sure at all about Danny at Championship level nor Richards, Hayes will be fine though quick feet and good skill should see him through.
Get Bent 89 minutes of lazyness? I actually think Nads worked his nuts off for the last 7 or 8 games of the season once he was been given a fair crack of the whip. Scored the goal that got us to the playoffs, scored the goal that got us to the playoff final, and scored the goal that took us to penalties. What more can you ask for? All we need next season is him to score the winner against the scum and the dee dars, and the goal that keeps us 4th bottom on the last day of the season, job done!
