If they sacked Jose at 5 past twelve today, and blamed him for the water logged pitch, it really wouldn't bother me one jot. My view of him though is not fixed and not personal, like.. life/nature.. is in a constant flux, ebbs and flows. In a instant things can and do change. We've see it done before, can't win a game, then go on a run.. so who knows. But you can only go on what has gone before.. in my opinion, from what ive seen jose looks bereft of any ideas. looks like rabbit caught in the headlights. And the players sensed that early doors, that's why the unrest and players meeting. And any improvement of attitude and commitment last Friday was down to the players playing for themselves, and not jose. I think to stay in this league we need at least 3 wins.. and there's nothing coming from jose to suggest it can be done, other than the basic its 11 vs 11.. over 90min and you always have a punches chance. But if my view is wrong and we get those wins needed then my opinion would change... 3 wins can you get them? This season is a combination failures.. and one is him .. like or not, if Paul Harsley had done the job till EoS It could not have gone any worse. Jose has had enough games to prove he has something to offer, something in his locker and failed.. My advice would be prove me wrong.. or pack a bag. Him n us in L1 jeez... not for me..
While he was in charge of which players he signed, he was not in charge of the list he had to choose from. All he could do was sign players from a list he was given, that list contained players he either did not think were good enough or players that were in positions we didn't need
That is true.. but the fact is he still had enough games to save us.. and still has. His input has been zero. I'm not defending Harsley, just using him as a example... could have just said any cardboard cut out
We only sold winnall (who forced a move) Conor and bree in January. We still had a good squad and only managed 3 league wins in the 2nd half of the season 2 against relegated teams.
Lost Sam Morsy as well. I thought we had a poor squad after that. Not much quality outside of James, Yiadom & Scowen. Never good having to significantly change a team in January though, most teams up to speed & know each other’s games
I agree Morsey was a big loss too the remainder of the season we mostly saw bradshaw up front alone. i still think with players like robo, ryan Kent, matty James, watkins, yiadom and scowern we should have picked up more wins than we did.
Quite a few fans didn't rate Matty James but I thought he did a good job. It was bad news for Mowatt though when we brought him in on loan.
Probably should’ve done. I don’t really rate Ryan Kent but ye, Roberts & Watkins decent as well, overlooked them
You also need to consider that Hecky had 2 pre-season's and 4 transfer windows. Jos Luhukay (sp) at Wednesday has taken 3 months to steady the ship at Hillsborough, but over time he's managed to work out his best side and get the best out of the players he has at his disposal, particularly Joao and Nuhiu. Admittedly for us to stay in the league, we need Morais to work things out quicker, however by merely extrapolating past results, you're only looking at part of the picture.
No Morais is NOT getting a rough ride. The football since he arrived has been shocking up to this last game. Hecky played without much of a strike force. Barnsley signed 6 new players in January - which Hecky didn’t have the benefit of. Ok - Barnes was a loss - especially now there are strikers to aim the crosses at. But with the players we have at the club right now we should be well clear of the relegation zone by now. So no - Morais record so far has been absolutely abysmal !!! In saying that - Morais in the longer term could come good. Fingers crossed that he does.
Jose thinks we have the quality to stay up ( Daily Mirror). He comments " I believe we have the quality to stay in this league. We showed that against a good side like Bristol City." In the same piece, Brad Potts says he is convinced that we have the guts to win the survival battle. Potts, who scored in the draw against Bristol on Good Friday said " There is a lot of grit and spirit in the team. If we can play like we did against Bristol City, we can give ourselves a chance of avoiding the drop." Potts who waved his shirt in celebration after his goal went on to say, " there was a lot of frustration boiling up and it came out when I scored." Personally my only fear, is that if we do survive, likely as not, Jose will ship quite a number of the current squad out, to make way for new signings, whereas if we are relegated, chances are they might be given a chance to stay in order to attempt to get us promoted.
On what basis would you be fearing shipping out these players if we stay up? Flitcroft made that mistake
There is the need to make a big clear out again, but we shouldn't have to keep doing this to our squad every summer. Last summers recruitment was appalling though and its why we're in this mess now. Jose (or anybody else who got the job) was given a hard task in keeping this awful squad up in the time that was left.
