The whole benefits system is wrong

Asylum laws are too easy to 'play' to get money, disability is too easy to play to get money, unemployment benefits and low income benefits are too easy to play to get money, family tax credit etc is too easy to play to get money and as we all know too well MPs expenses are too easy to play to get money.

It all needs tightening up and NONE of the above should get a single penny in cash, all should be in vouchers for me and the rules should be a lot stricter.

He has my sympathy, as I can see myself in the same situation soon

Already been "at risk" once, and can see myself being made redundant by the end of the year.

Anybody want to employ a 57year old, one-eyed, reasonably fit grand-dad?

Can't wait for the offers to flood in!! :D

Handing in the vouchers at post offices? Having certain bills automatically adjusted to reflect your allowance? There is very little need for cash to be handed out these days and it only serves to give too much freedom and allowance for misuse

So basically, you want to turn people with disabilities in to second class citizens. And those without a job it seems.

No, I didn't say give them vouchers/allowances that are sub standard

give them as much as they need but make sure its used in the correct way. None of this fishing licence paid for by me for the lad who hurt his wrist so 'cant' do ANY job at all apparently

And anyway, there are too many trampolines on council estates already :D

RE: No, I didn't say give them vouchers/allowances that are sub standard

What if a disabled person needs to nip round to the local shop and get some milk and tea bags? Will all local shops take these vouchers? What if this disabled person needs to take a taxi, will all taxi companies take vouchers? What if, heaven forbid, this disabled person actually wants a pint of beer from the local pub so he actually feels alive? If you can't use vouchers anywhere and you limit a person to what they can spend their money on then you are turning them into a second class citizen.

    Me too!

53 year old Building Surveyor. Been "on Contract" for 12 years or so, so I know what it's like being on the "knife edge" so to speak. Contract's due up at the end of the month and in the current climate things don't look too good!
