It's a combination of the two. It offers us security from certain clubs making enquiries, but also makes us a profit if someone is successful. Exactly how it should be to be fair. Increase the release fee too much and you'll not get the Head Coach to sign the contract though. £2 million is great business as hindsight is a wonderful thing.
it's on Sky sports https://www.skysports.com/football/...ission-to-speak-to-manager-over-hawthorns-job
Managers come, managers go, but the club still remains. Will be sad to see him go if he does leave but wish him well
So provided any manager does ok we just let them move on for 2m every time? Eventually we are going to plough that release clause into the wrong appointment and that 2m won’t seem worth it then.
I agree with you on the point where we have to sack someone, but £2m seems a heck of a lot of money for a coach who is on way less than that. As i said before, if we increased the compensation, would we get the coach in the first place? And in addition to that, would we be willing to increase his salary if we value his departure so highly?
And how do you propose We stop them moving on? They aren’t slaves ! They are free human beings and what message would we send out to other prospective coaches ? People are quick yo condemn the club without thinking about what alternatives there are. The club have put a £2 million buy out clause which imo would deter most but the determined clubs and make sure we are adequately compensated . What if Val had been a flop? Before condemning the club on this have a think .
Would probably agree had we not lost 2 managers in less than a year yet weirdly I don’t see other clubs turning over head coaches at the same rate we do. I guess if we set out to be a stepping stone that’s all we will ever be. Don’t think you would see Brentford who are meant to be the pioneers of the path we are trying to follow acting in the same way. Also you don’t often see many managers pitching up with us and talking about their next appointment at that moment in time they are with us etc. I’m not condemning the club I’m wanting them to get the above what a manager is worth to make it worth the while of having to go through yet another change of head coach, can’t be many clubs that turn them over at the same rate we do - usually it’s for them being sacked not recruited. One thing I haven’t seen and not sure if the coach market will be affected by brexit in the same way that the player market is now to us. Will we move away from European based ones and have to recruit from the UK?
Wasn't it the dude who got us relegated and walked around on all fours pretending to be a big cat? We didn't take up the option of extending his deal (not sure why?). A nice way of saying clear out your desk and cat bed.
