If it was (say) 10k a week with us v 20k with the Baggies I'd be taking the extra million quid (assuming two years) given what a fickle and unstable profession the head coach's role is.
Ironically we might have more chance holding onto coaches if we didn't have mandatory release clauses in there. I don't know if the protocol for EU players also applies to coaches as well, I'd be inclined to think its just players as defining a successful coach is going to way harder to do and you can pretty much only have one head coach at a time! I must admit, I'm sick of the constant turning over of players, coaches and executives. The owners may look at last season and say it doesn't affect much, quite the opposite. I just like forming bonds over time. But thats the more typically the modern way and certainly this incarnation of BFCs way.
If he goes he goes. If he doesn't want to stay then it's pointless keeping him. Same with players who don't want to stay. Let them go. That's not just football. That's life. If they prove successful when they're with us, for sure we will get attached to them, but these days football fans aren't stupid; fans recognise that , in the main, the days of 5 to 10 years at one club with a testimonial at the end of it are long gone. If the succession planning process is effective then people moving on shouldn't be a problem . Seems to me that our succession planning process is effective. Wouldn't surprise me if there were names already in the bag who we will approach if Val does go. We are currently a well run club. We're sustainable, we've built a foundation and we're working cohesively to.move things forward on the playing side. All joined up. Having a release clause is a good thing. Yes, of course we take a risk if we have a release clauae and the Manager fails, but if you have confidence in your succession planning process it would be foolish not to have a release clause. Good luck Val whether you stay or go.....bottom line is, as another poster has just put, the king could be dead... if he is .....long live the next king/queen(!) and may their rule take us to the next level.
Be a crying shame if we don't get to see him. I know there were a few thousand for the Swansea match but half of us didn't get to go to that game. I was disappointed I never saw Dike but will be even more disappointed if Val goes before I've seen him.
The team would have an identity crisis. Collins wouldnt know whether he is coming or going, Sibbock and Mads would revert to type (August 2019) and Ritzmaier would slot back in comfortably to a rock bottom side.
According to Dane some markets (EU) have become more difficult but others (USA, South America) have become more accessible.
I also think mowatt would leave and many other players would be massively down about it. He is very well liked by the players palmer spoke highly about struber been just happy to survive but val came in and got them believing they could achieve more.
I think so too. My comment was tongue in cheek in response to your tippy tappy, but reverting back to tippy tappy isn't beyond the realm of possibility. I'm not a negative person and don't catastrophize, but I think Val leaving would have a big effect on the players, as you say, and club (and results potentially). But I dont blame the club either, it was a masterstroke to get him in, the team far exceeded expectations, and I'm grateful. Would just be good to have some longevity/stability when we're doing well. If Val, Mowatt and Murphy go, my optimism may waiver a bit, not to Titanic proportions but like a fishing boat struggling to meander a very choppy North Sea.
I agree i think the tippy tippy style and trying to always play out from the back did no good for some of our lads and heaped pressure on the defence at times. I'm still hopeful for next season we won't be in a relegation battle we have a good squad invest the 2million we get another head coach in but we had a gem in val imo not the prettiest style but got the results.
If others are turning it down why would Val want it? Obviously money talks but it could be a poison chalice
Why do people keep saying this? Brentford have a completely different business model to us. That they have a similar recruitment model doesn’t amount to a good comparison.
I thought he walked, as he knew he was going to be pushed. I know it can mean the same thing, but I was thinking more of straight forward sacking. I almost said Moraise, but I believe they took an option not to extend his contract, and he left immediately
I’d say they were both sacked. Morais’ contract gave us a release clause on relegation, and Daniel may have left ‘by mutual consent’ but we paid him compensation for the release which indicates it was our decision. BTW; in what other industry could you get the sack and be compensated for your unearned contracted income?
