RE: A BBC website said that they Kidnapped the soldiers in order to get exactly the response they ha "When Israel then bombed a Palestinian power station and in the process removed electricty and water to nearly 1 million people it was by definition of the Geneva Conventions (as laid out after the Nuremburg trials) a war crime," Article 33 states: "No protected person may be punished for an offence he or she has not personally committed," and "collective penalties and likewise all measures of intimidation or of terrorism are prohibited." I can see what you mean but surely that is a judgement on whether or not it comes under Article 33 as a war crime. It doesn't entirely define the bombing of a power station as a war crime.
RE: A BBC website said that they Kidnapped the soldiers in order to get exactly the response they ha It comes under the rule of "collective punishment".
Just who are the terrorists resonsible for the situation today? http://www.wrmea.org/archives/May-June_2006/0605014.html The state of Israel is the most two-faced country in the world after the US and China (and probably us and all)
RE: Just who are the terrorists resonsible for the situation today? And here is what's left of the land the Palestinian people had. They are essentially a people who now have no place to live of their own, which is ironic given it was the Jews who originally didn't have any in the first place. Who says irony is dead? The least they could do is go backto the UN defined borders of 1967. However it seems these crazy Zionists won't really be happy until the Palestinians are all but dead and consigned to the history books. http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/2199/palestinianlandlosscs6.jpg
RE: Just who are the terrorists resonsible for the situation today? Just to balance things up, there's plenty of ker-razy arabs who's main aim is to exterminate Israel. This issue's been going on for 2000 years.
RE: Just who are the terrorists resonsible for the situation today? I wouldn't argue otherwise. I just find it sad and shocking that after all the Jewish peoples suffering they should treat the Palestinian people with some of the contempt that they themselves have been treated with. The Palestinians live in little more than Israeli controlled concentration camps - I use the word advisedly and not by means of direct comparison - where they have no freedom of movement, no access to ports, are regularly shelled by the IDF, straffed by US supplied gunships, F-16's and tanks and to make matters worse are then walled inside what little land they have left. If you strip away the rhetoric and say what you see, it's a pretty abhorrent sight by any standards. Im sure some pscychologists would make some interesting conclusions about "the abused becoming the abusers".
How it started. <div class="ch1">WEDNESDAY 12 JULY</div> Hezbollah fighters based in southern Lebanon launch Katyusha rockets across the border with Israel, targeting the town of Shlomi and outposts in the Shebaa Farms area. </p> <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="208" align="right" border="0"><tbody><tr><td width="5"></td><td class="sibtbg"><div class="o"> </div><div class="o"> </div><div class="miiib"><div class="arr"><b /></div></div></td></tr></tbody></table>In a cross-border raid, guerrillas seize two Israeli soldiers before retreating back into Lebanon, insisting on a prisoner exchange and warning against confrontation. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert describes the capture of the soldiers as "an act of war". </p> In response Israeli planes bomb Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon and troops cross into southern Lebanon for the first time since the military withdrawal of 2000. </p> However, the troops encounter heavy resistance - eight are killed and two others are injured during fighting with Hezbollah. Israel calls up reserve troops as it pledges a swift and large-scale response to the Hezbollah attack. </p>
Were the roles reversed before the creation of Israel? In that the Jewish terrorists/seperatists were doing what Hamas and Hezbollah are doing now?
My brother's god-daughter (aged 2) is currently cowering in the cellar of a Greek church in Tyre. The Israelis are bombing everything indiscriminately with the only possible gain being the eliminatation of most of the civillian life in South Lebanon. They even bombed a UN convoy! It's remarkable how different the BBC/ITV coverage is from eye-witness reports.
The Israeli's killed 7 Canadians the day before yesterday, hardly made massive news did it? I get the feeling that had they been killed by the Lebonese the reaction would have been somewhat different.
