Would clearly have been the right thing though wouldn't it? Given how bad we were then until Peterbrough away

We'd have been down a long time ago had Keith remained at the helm. He caused fractions in the dressing room, was an ego-maniac with paranoid delusions, and he was too stubborn to change for the better.

It's hard enough taking the fans on, but taking on long serving players and the board was a step too far.

By the end it appeared as if he was tempting the board to sack him.

That doesn't take away the many things he did get right (IMO). He (with DF) recruited some quality players over 18 months that Mark Robins/Simon Davey wouldn't have dared touch with a bargepole. And had we not been so unlucky around New Year 2012 with injuries etc, who knows what may have occurred..?

I might be wrong (very probable knowing me) but I think Flitcroft saw where Keith went wrong re the players, re the tactics, re the fans, and he's turned it around by doing so.

KEITH - Took on the fans.

    FLICKER - Rallied the fans.

    KEITH - Moaned incessantly.

FLICKER - Hasn't moaned full stop.

KEITH - Ignored a shitload of players.

FLICKER - Given opportunities to everyone.

KEITH - Stuck to a failing system/tacticsm, played to our weaknesses.

FLICKER - Been flexible, played to our strengths.

    KEITH - Arrogant.

    FLICKER - Humble.

When Keith arrived in June 2011, all he'd experienced as a manager was success against the odds. He ran his ex club from top to bottom, controlled everything. He was lauded like a God by Rochdale fans.

So he bounced into BFC with a cocksure attitude, and must have felt untouchable. But there's a big difference between League Two (and a year in League One) and the Championship. From the clubs, to the attitude of players, supporter expectations, etc etc. He even admits as much as his tenure progresses.
And by the end, he looked a lost and broken man, brought back down to earth. Not untouchable, not the God he was once lauded as. He ****** up. Failed.

But Flicker was with him all the way, and he's obviously clever enough to have learned. He's corrected Keith's mistakes, got outside help, and look at the difference...

And let's not forget, had Flitcroft overseen a defeat/draw against Leeds, he wouldn't have got the job. And as much as I adore Craig Hignett, I doubt he'd have made the same impact that Flicker has since that day..

    Oh, and we're staying up.

    You long winded reds.
