Do the touriests go to london to see the queen?

Or do they go to see the palace, the houses of parliament, tower of london, big ben, traffalgar square etc that are all owned by the state and would be owned by the state whether the queen was still around or not?

only the best touriests do that

The rest of the touriests are happy with Leicester Square, Nelson's column etc.

I don't pay anywhere near 40% income tax

The total tax (income tax and NI) from my salary works out at approx 25%.

Just think the part Royal's play in tourism is overplayed. But there you go. I don't have the answers, but as stated before, I don't like the concept. Being born 'better' or more important is not something I'll ever agree with.

Is it 267 teachers ?

I'd shoot Jenny Bond if that helps ?

And as a relatively serious ps - until the calibre and decency of the type of person who wishes to be elected to positions of political power in this country improves, I can't see a better alternative.

The irony is that recent govts have been happy to devolve power and decision making both to unelected EU commissioners and to unelected public bodies in the UK. Health policy for example is by and large made by organisations that the public have no say in who runs them.

Up to Supertykes spelling error I'd have said yes.

however, it's well documented that spelling mistakes rule any point of view null & void. The reactionary Monarchists win again.

And you also work at this place where your employer makes no NI contributions.

Where is it.

RE: You might as well talk to a fecking tree mate.

You said 40% income tax which is wrong; then in a vain attempt to make sense of the **** you came out with you waffle on about NI at 11% and 12.5% so just what point are you trying to make?
12.5 + 11 is 23.5 so it cant be that you're adding up to 40
Basic rate of tax is 20% and no matter how hard i try i cant make 20 + 11 + 12.5 add up to 40 but i'm not as clever as you.

So where do you get 40% from Einstein?

PS. You do know there is a difference between income tax and NI dont you? There is a good book here thats right up your street http://www.taxbookshop.com/bk-694-tax-for-dummies

His employer pays 15% NI contributions?

Which magical company is that then? You stated earlier that it was lower than that

Houses of parliament - you mean the PALACE of Westminster
Big ben - (or the clock tower that houses big ben within the Palace of Westminster)
Tower of london - where the crown jewels are kept.
A massive proportion of Whitehall where a large number of goverment departments are based
The ROYAL parks.

Guess who actually owns those (and a lot more)

Guess who the public rents them off like free of charge. That's what the Royals gave up in return for the civil list.

You could argue that Crown property is public property. It'd be an interesting debate for some lawyer to go through. Wonder how much that law suit would cost us. A few million more. But it would be worth it I suppose.

Anyway it's not gonna happen so you might as well get used to it.

We rent the tower of london?

Are you sure about that because the articles i've read claim that the STATE owns it.

What about buckingham palace then? Do you reckon that we rent that off lizzy and then let her live in it? Or do you think maybe the state owns it and thats why the state pays for its upkeep and she just gets to live in it rent free?
