That's a much better idea. In fact, it sounds very good, and we have months to whip up the required support.

    Very clever.

Don't forget the cup runs they have had over past years.

I do admit the ticket sales are impressive but considering our collective moans on match day do you think we could cope with more fans(tongue in cheek). They'll be same amount of numpties dishing out food and drink at a snails pace. No booze left at December instead of usual April cutoff ("what's the point"). The conversations will just change from how we going to make more money to where's all the money going.

I'll read it on my way home. I need to buy a big bag of salt before reading anything that comes out of Mansford's gob though.

    Just a couple of caveats

The club need to trust themselves not to dip into next year's revenue and possibly create a future liability.

And fans need to ensure we don't press for this money to be spent during later in the season if we are mounting a challenge.

I have a long drive down to bognor in a bit. So would give me time to think :)

And if/when it goes tits up and we're in admin (or worse), you'll be one of the first wailing..."It's always the fans that suffer"

nezbfc's scheme is sound enough..as he says, "we'll see the metal" of our fanbase. If we have a similar season to last year we'll attract few more than this coming season's ST figure...but I fear that even if we spent the whole of the season in the promotion race...we'd struggle to attract the extra 6-8 thou that will be required to make it viable.

    Just a quick bit of maths, not accounting for sales of concessions etc;

    £150 x 14,000 = £2.1million
    £350 x 6,500 = £2.275million

So yes, it would be a huge risk to have us in a situation of needing to more than double our ST fanbase to make what we do year on year. Yes it would be lovely to have a system which passes on financial benefits to fans and sees Oakwell fill up. But £150 is still a heck of a chunk of cash to part with. And Bradford is in the top ten largest cities in the UK, Barnsley is not.

If we become a stable Championship club again it may work, but I just can't see there being enough demand to make it possible.

Because it's safer for the club. We can trust the club more to pay up 150 quid to everyone than the club can trust every fan who paid 150 to pay them another 150 if a target isn't reached. They won't want to waste time chasing up money from those who haven't paid the full amount.

Given most our season tickets were early bird... three hundred ... three ten there isnt a lot in it.

The more they talk the less questions they have to answer, politicians do it all the time.

That don't really work, a lot won't be adult tickets so you can't use that figure for all the 6,500 even if it is a loose estimate.

One thing you have to admire about Mansford is that he at least comes across asif he is willing to let fans know, especially when they've taken time to write to him.

Think we have a culture of us vs them at this club and it's not healthy for either side.

Indeed we do - not helped by having Davey and the Burke as managers.

Unfortunately the club views the supporters as an inconvenience and until this changes the situation will continue.

Regarding the club doing anything similar to what Bradford have done - forget abart it because it's not going to happen.

Only so much you can ask in an hour too without asking about weeds around the playing area, bird **** & cobwebs on seats, a new scoreboard, if we've got rid of Lindleys now, why we recently had our clubshop shut on the U21s match and a saturday when those would be two of the best days to make sales etc.

As I said, that's not taking into account for concessions, but the same rule would apply if we had 14,000 ST holders. So of course the figures don't stand up but the reasoning does.

We'd have to attract a huge number of fans to commit £150 if we're to take the same revenue we do with prices as they are.

Kids free tickets are included in the 6,500 aren't they? they would be scrapped for the £150 ST, that's a huge difference to those figures straight away.

we'll never know as Jase and Co. think it is too risky. So lets just carry on as we always have done......which works everytime doesn't it !?

BFC Policy: instead of trying new initiatives lets carry on as before even tho it clearly doesn't work.
