    London Marathon

Did my first in 94, thought I'd just try one. London this year will be my 41st. With a background of 1.50 halfs you will be absolutely fine. The Runners World schedules are really good and 4 and a half would be a good ( and achievable) target. It is a fantastic day in London - you'll love every minute, even though it hurts. Thirteen weeks is ample time, go for it. If you need any help by all means email me.

    43?!?

No, people officially get past running marathon's at 42, except Jimmy Saville but he drinks the blood of small children and has robo-joints.

hope you do better than me then AIRy

I gave up reading the training plan at week three never mind attempting the actual running ******

Why would you go out running when you can stay in, in the warm, with a nice bottle of red?

agreed, it's a bit far fetched just to get some 'me time' Isn't that why blokes have sheds?

I did my first one when I was 44 - and I'm still doing them 15 years later in under 4 hours. And I don't look anything like Jimmy Saville!

I found 'Marathoning for Mortals' by John Bingham a great book - no-nonsense but inspirational stuff. I ran a couple in 2004 in Canada. The third quarter is the worst. Final quarter is another planet.

"There comes a moment when you know that you will finish" - I love that line.

    Hope the training goes well.
