No criticism aimed at you whitey but it looks like Ben is picking his own audience don't know how thats aiming at the fans as there's loads on here who are just as like minded as yourself and have the reds close to their hearts

I dunno if that's why I was selected, I just put that forward as the only explanation I could think of, barring it being a random stab at the database. No idea.

I would have attended though. Shame.

Good to see. I'm hoping the selection criteria is based on Willy Wonka's Golden Ticket

What you mean, Marc, is that you hope to God that they've not selected ******* Whitey, for any other reason but it being totally random. I have no idea why you'd think like that... :D :D

    Re: Interesting

Not questioning the fact you were invited as tbh IMO you are well worthy of a place .but it seems Ben wants to preach to the fairly converted and is trying to implant a favourable audience .not suggesting for one moment that if you had any critisism you wouldn't voice it as I know you would to get to know how the fans in general are feeling and needs to invite fans from various supporters clubs.

Another week, another sting. The police force of Springfield, namely Eddie, Lou and Chief Clancy Wiggum, are preparing the police station to lure outlaws to the building.

Wiggum: I mailed these bogus prize certificates to every scofflaw in Springfield. When they show up for their free motor boats we arrest them and beat them to the full extent of the law.

Eddie: So the hook is baited.

    Lou: Nice metaphore Eddie!

    Wiggum: Yeah, good work, Eddie!

Homer is one of the scofflaws Chief Wiggum spoke about, and he's driving the family to the station to pick up a motorboat Homer supposedly won.

Homer: Up and away in my beautiful my beautiful motor boat! Da da da da!

Bart: But we didn't enter any police raffle.

Homer: That doesn't matter, the important thing is we won. [parks]

Marge: I don't know, there's something very peculiar about this!

Homer: Sheesh! You're the most paranoid family I've ever been affiliated with. [gets out]

Snake beat Homer to the station, but Homer tries to cut to the front of the line.

Homer: I'd like a yellow boat please, with extra motors.

Snake: Yo! No cuts bro! Where's my motor boat pig?

Wiggum: Right through that door [he laughs. Snake enters we hear screams.]

Wiggum: Alright, Simpson, Homer. Your'e next.

Homer: Wohoo! [goes through] Howdy gents. I'm hear to collect my free... [they get him] Oh, oh, my boating arm. What's going on?

Wiggum: Your'e under arrest slimebag, what's this punk in here for Lou?

Lou: 235 unpaid parking tickets, totalling $175.

Wiggum: I hope you brought your'e check book, wiseguy.

Homer: [gets it out his back pocket.] You lousy cops. Lucky for you I'm double parked. [gives him check] Now, can I please have my motor boat?

Within no time, our favorite family are driving home. Homer isn't happy about what happened, and seems to be giving everyone the silent treatment.

Bart: Dad, why aren't you saying anything? Where's our motorboat?

Homer: I didn't like it. The mast had termites.

Lisa: Why would a motor boat have a mast?

Homer: Because... the thingy was... shut up!

    Re: Interesting

ben said at the last QA session, that the 'pub nights' wouldn't be repeated, and that he would be reaching out to 'representatives of fan groups'. i always have a bit of an issue with how these representatives are selected. i really hope i'm wrong, but i'm a little cynical about where this is headed..

    Re: Interesting

Tbh not sure Ben has to do this but if he wants to genuinely know what fans are thinking etc as he says he is then he has to get out and about and listen to all genuine thoughts and suggestions from a cross section of the support .if he wants a pr exercise and a platform for club information then that's fine also but fans won't be fooled if certain parts ot the fan base are excluded.imo

Got same letter, accepted Ben's invite. Think running Penistone reds was reason I got letter. Probably some from Courthouse and Hoyland reds also invited

    Re: Interesting

I emailed Ben and thanked him for inviting me, politely told him I wouldn't be able to attend and said there'd be numerous people on the BBS who would be good representatives of it - assuming that's why I was asked.

I never attend these gatherings. I've never felt it made a difference before. And the fact I live miles away isn't great for making a trip over. But I would have attended this one, just because Ben himself sent the letter, signed in biro and't lot. But I would more than likely have had very little to say at the meeting. I'm very satisfied with the vast majority of our on and off field activities since the end of last season. The off field things I do have issues with are unlikely to be addressed at this point (scoreboard, ticket pricing, Lindley's etc) anyway. On the field, I have no issue whatsoever. I feel Reuben ought to be involved. That's it. It's hardly summat I'd bring up in a meeting with the CEO.
The only suggestions I have, I've included in my emailed response. I think that whoever runs the social media accounts needs to up his/her game. But I think summat is happening on that anyway, a little bird tells me. Think the advert for a new media/marketing role is a clue. So that's an issue getting resolved. I think my other suggestions are simple - keep engaging with supporters, keep things as in house as we possibly can and to keep up the good work.

So I'd have been a poor rep if what they're wanting is a challenge, or someone to tell them **** they didn't know. I'd have been a nodder, a yes man in the main. Albeit a very good looking one.
They might want that. Dunno. But I appreciated being invited and I look forward to hearing about the event from such as Boston Wayne and Fraser in due course.
