What's funnier or not as the case maybe is that in the letter it says that I'm going to be able to watch a few extra channels on my iPad if I want to at no extra cost to myself while telling me my subscription is going up £3-50 a month

I got a letter saying mine goes up £0. Last year I recieved a similar letter and I negotiated a lower price and fixed it for a period. Can't remember if it was 12 or 18 months. I ended up getting about 10% lower. Threat of cancellation of course plus removal from their mailing list helped.

I hate Sky and everything they stand for. But I can't understand anyone paying full price for the service. It's a well known fact that they have a retention department whose job it is to offer whatever is necessary to keep a customer. It's based in Glasgow I think. I know because when I used to work for a customer in Glasgow, one of my contacts there told me their spouse worked in the retention department at Sky. They are on commission for every customer they manage to retain. If you ring up and threaten to leave, it's pretty much guaranteed that they will offer you a deal to stay, and the longer you hold out the better the offer will get. Anybody who pays for Sky is mad given what they have done to football. But anybody who pays full price for Sky is proper mad and must have more money than sense.

I had f5 for a while, sky offered me totally free sky for 6 months. I saved up and bought a more advanced box while i had the free sky. £20 per year for 2 boxes lol. not had sky since despite loads of offers

Its probably one of the reasons their putting up the prices :D

One of their arguements was they now have the rights to the Indian Premier League. I said when it was on ITV4 it was free so you are penalising cricket fan customers by making them pay in a package for something that was free. They mentioned now having the rights to Major League Soccer but i've no interest in that.

I rang up ages ago to cancel, told them I couldn't afford it and that it was time for it to go; I don't know if the lass on the other end had a hangover or was tired or had met her targets for the month or something because she said 'yep no problem, I can do that for you' and cancelled! I was gutted - wanted to keep it but ended up with nothing. I must have been the only person in the history of sky to ring up to cancel and be told 'no problem'.

I've since got sky back as a new customer at a different address because I do enjoy what Sky Atlantic has to offer but when my 12 months is up I'll be making sure I don't get her again!!

Thing about sky is they have highly trained and highly instructed staff. Meaning they have counter measures for the old threaten to leave trick. Unless of course you follow through with the threat. Then they have your info to bombard you with special offers as they see fit. I threatened to reduce my package meaning they lost revenue and it countered their we have offered more value bit. Also I threatened to cancel fully and asked for all my personal details to be removed from their DB and mailing lists. I got a reduced offer by around 10% fixed for I think 18 months i.e. no price rise for me at this time
