Not if they've been linked with them beforehand, these two have come from nowhere, we've only just started making inquiries I'd say and if that's the case then they've not been priority signing until now, so that would suggest they were down the pecking order, that's just my opinion from the outside, that's why I started the thread to so what others think
Who were these preferred targets that figured above these two? I know we lost out to Dempsey but I think preferred not only means player quality but also availability at our budget. Otherwise Ronhaldo, Messi, Xavi and Tom Cleverly would all have been our top targets.
No one knows apart from the recruitment committee, you're right we might have had our eye on players sat down with them and realised where miles away in the agreeing on wages, and moved on or they've choose another club, but I sure these two wasn't near the top of the list otherwise we'd have them already or at least been linked with them before the 10th week of the closed season.
Maybe even LJ is getting frustrated. If he's handed a target list to the club and they are struggling to deliver where does the problem lie?
Missing out on targets is the name of the game at whichever level. Who have we missed? Dempsey? We did well to be in the race for him in the first place and only lost out to a higher side offering him better prospects. I am just pleased we had scouted him, liked him and were after him. I don't know of anyone else. Liam Kelly from Oldham? I am not even sure we are after him in spite of all the talk last season. It is good that we seem to have re-established some kind of decent scouting system which identifies good players, often at lower levels, but sometimes higher in reserves, whose statistics also show their value. I am confident that we are unlikely to bring in rubbish by this system. As LJ says, it may take three transfer windows, but it will be better to wait and get better quality than bring players in for the sake of it. I think we will see a slow, but steady development of the squad over the next twelve months. The likes of Scowen and Mawson show our intent and plan. I trust that it will come good, but in more than one close season.
Ive been searching for this Ronhaldo on FM for almost 2 hours now, who the **** is he? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Henderson would be a completely uninspired signing, has no resale value and doesn't seem to fit into any sort of vision we may have. He's had one good season out of his many as a pro.
