I'd say its a problem as other things going on in English fa but that doesn't mean we should ignore t cos something else s happening . I do not want to cheer a team of foreigners playing for my national team how could you know if we were playing a players mother country which all his family are supporting and he gives a blatant penalty in the dying seconds how do you know what family pressures there s on them. I am getting very disenchanted with the game at the moment when I see serious criminals invited back into the game being paid loads of money and gloating at press coverage for they,re victims to watch. The game I was brought up to love is slowly slipping away from my feelings. If Barnsley ever went down the road of some other clubs I would really have to question my loyalty which up to a few years ago was never in any doubt. And then to watch my so called national team where the player was brought in solely for that reason would be the end for me
No its not. Its called supporting you team with whatever you feel you identify it with, eg coming from the place the club comes from or the way it plays football etc. If it was all about winning things do you think I would have picked Barnsley as my team t glory hunt
To be perfectly honest i'd like to see England go and cherry pick the very best youngsters in the world right now, get 20 or so lined up in time for the Russian world cup, make a big song and dance about As soon as we get in on the act like the rest of the world are, Mick Platt & Getting Fatter, will put a stop to there and then, so the sooner we try it the better for me, put a stop to it now
Why should he keep his mouth shut?.He's just as entitled to an opinion as anyone else, he was asked a question and he answered it.I believe you should play for the country of your birth or your parents and thats it.
Can put in my tuppence worth? To me it's simple. Far too many foreign players playing in the English leagues which is stifling the progress of English born players. Remove all the foreigners from the Prem and see what talent remains. Teams like Chelsea and Arsenal would be left with nothing to put on the pitch. Little wonder the FA has to go poaching players to play for England as home grown talent is not there in enough numbers. If it's done within the existing laws then nothing wrong with it but it's not the way ahead. Well that's the view from Scotland and from someone who gave up on International football ages ago.
The FA is run by a bunch of ArseHoles, what they let in last year where prem teams can take young players from none prem clubs and sit them on under18s bench for next to nothing will be the final nail in the coffin and the FA where too slow and thick to see it
If this lad takes up British Citizenship its irelevant where he was born , i don't see anything wrong in people who choose to become a british citizen because they qualify to,then representing their chosen country at elite sport level.
He's not going to take up British Citizenship though is he, he's just going to play for the country where he live, he's not going to go round claiming to be English because he's not
Someone on talk sport told Alan Brazil Yesterday, its the way there doing it, that's whats happening in Germany & France, Deco as a Brazilian passport and played for Portugal too he's still classed as Brazilian but plays for a different country.
Whether the 5 year rule is right or wrong that is the rule. In the specific case of Adnan he was born in Belgium, so they can call him up whenever they want. There are fairly obvious reasons why he wouldn't want to play for Serbia & I don't think he's even visited Albania. If he turns them down & hangs on for a few years so he can play for England that certainly would show commitment. I wouldn't have any problem with that myself.
'Deco received Portuguese citizenship in 2002 having completed five years of Portuguese residence, subsequently opting to play internationally for the Portugal national football team.'..........they have dual citizenship. Wilfred Saha has dual British /Ivory Coast citizenship, Saido Berahino has dual citizenship with Burundi
