Both Williams and Brown demonstrated their inexperience. They are not our first choice in their respective positions, perhaps not even second choice. But Williams started very well. And Brown without the ball did everything that Bradshaw used to do. Of more concern was the goalkeeping situation - our second choice looked a pale shadow of our first choice. So if Davies loses form again, we seem to be in trouble.
We've played 150 odd minutes without our leading scorer and scored 6 goals. We needed more scorers in our team than just relying on Kieffer and the team have showed they can do it.
Williams played well first 10 minutes and then his performance slipped from there. Think I counted 4 maybe 5 needless fouls he gave away and also the penalty. Had to be subbed off for a more experience Pinillos and it showed straight away for us. He’ll learn from games like today and come back a better player though.
Anyone, either reds fans or others who thought we’d struggle without Kieffer need to sit up and take notice. Don’t get me wrong he would be my first choice every time, but 3 goals today, hey ho.
He is still a young lad and one thing you can be sure of with young players is their inconsistency. Today shows we have the squad to do a decent job when our "Star" men are out injured or on International duty. Did Luton have so many of their best players out?
Eh? I just said he had a mare, I didn’t say he was ****, and read my other response further up. Far from becoming anyone’s ******* scapegoat.
Thought Brown had a decent game he made the run that took the defenders out of position for Mageehans goal never gave the centre backs a minutes peace all game. Just a shame one of his goal scoring chances were not taken
He did ok until he made his first mistake in 100 mins of football. It seemed to knock his confidence and he seemed to lose concentration. A great prospect though
Agreed. By the end of next season the moaning about him will be that he's been sold for a few million and a future sell on to a premier league team.
He gave it away more than he kept it and missed 2 guilt edge chances, one in the first half and one in the second. Like I said above, I rate him, this isn’t a personal dig at him, I’m saying he had a mare. I’m perfectly allowed to make a comment on whether someone played well or not. I’ve not called him a naughty name or said he was crap, I’ve basically said he didn’t play well. **** me, it’s like I’ve just punched someone’s 4 year old in the face.
As a young lad with only a hand full of games to his name and asked to lead the line against a inform Luton team on TV I thought he did well,
Won 2 or 3 headers int air with nobody anticipating him doing that, bit like Bradders and Moore when they played lone striker. He`s a bit hit and miss like most of the young uns last week everyone was raving abart young Williams today I saw summat different. Swings and rarndabarts.innit.
Won some decent headers in the first half and linked up play well. Took a bit long to get his shot away in the second half after having an extra touch, and was blocked. I think he'll be a good striker, but still very new to first team, and will take time to find a consistent level of performance. Gets into scoring positions which is half of the battle.
Turned into traffic many a time though, demonstrating a lack of awareness that'll prevent him from getting first team football if he persists with that.
