That is not the point really. He watched the same game as everyone that was at the ground, he has the same opinion of Butterfields performance in the second half. He is correct in his opinion . Butterfield was poor in the second half, so were others , as he said. I dont see a problem with his post.

Correct; the whole team were very poor in the second half but when you look for leadership from your captain Butts was AWOL however he is only a young lad and the senior pro's were also absent in the second half. Shocking team performance.

    Yeah

England were 2-0 up against West Germany in 1970

And went on to lose 3-2

    Terrible captaincy

    Right ****** that Bobby

You are not reading the whole thread are you?
This is not about other players or even the Butterfield of the first half , it is about Jacob Butterfield and how he played in the second half.

Re: to me, that says you didn't even go...

After England conceded did Bobby trudge back to the halfway line looking down at his boots and then proceed to spend 45 minutes trying to hide and when players did occasionally find him did he choose to hoof the ball back to the keeper or defenders regardless of whether or not they were marked? Because Butterfield did

He was gash. Don't think his captaincy changed though, he just didn't play well.

Yeah he played ok in the second half

What do you think a captain does?

    He did not go "missing"

    Against Palace he was crap

    But not tonight

When was the last time you saw a captain responsible for the performance of a team?

Is it not appropriate to look at who's in charge if you're looking to blame?

could it not have been summat to do with err.............. those highly paid sleeping giants from Ipswich who woke up on tv and after they'd had an injection of confidence suddenly realized how to play?

No........it was cos our 22year old captain forgot how to be an inspirational championship world beater in the second half

    All his fault

I also do not get this club captain ****** either

how the f uck can that have influenced Bobby to the positive...
"ok Bobby mate as longest serving player you are club captain, but only when we aint playin a game" ..." but in the meantime a 21 year old kid will be the captain on the field as long as he draws breath in this club"...I woulda told him to f uck off with that one' the only reason Butterfield is captain on the pitch is in order to pander to his inflated ego in a vain attempt to keep him here. Tonight he totally showed he was not the golden balls many are saying. Cash in next month and watch him sit on a bench in Wolverhampton or at some other failing premier league strugglers.

Re: to me, that says you didn't even go...

He isn't ever the shouting, cajoling type of captain. He normally leads by his performance, he wasn't at it today, none of them were. There are enough experienced heads in our team to not have to look to a 21yr old who is having a bad game. Or do they have to have the armband on to stand up and do it?

Of course they don't but it IS part of the job of captain. The captain is supposed to be the leader and im sorry but if we're having to make excuses and say he is too young to do the job that is required then he shouldn't be captain. Give it back to bobby

It probably wouldn't have changed anything. We still lost games under Sir Bob, Fozzy, Shackell, Moore.

Re: to me, that says you didn't even go...

He played as well as anyone. Put as much effort in as anyone. To patronise him by saying he's not as good "as you like to think" - which indicates that the relatively untalented poster can also read his mind - and emphasise his point by reference to how many times his name is mentioned by a commentator, indicates to me that I am indeed reading the thread. And accurate in my post.

And being there is always better in terms of what actually happens. Not in terms of offside etc, but in terms of e.g. who has played well or who hasn't

And if he is being held to blame for us losing, then my "Bobby" reference remains apposite

Hemsy will say this tmra - "JB19 got another assist"
Which he did, with his 1st decent corner for 2 month..
Look, I dont agree that its all down to Jacob that we lost. But he was woeful, and hid away. He isnt as good as some would have you believe, and he shouldnt be captain. A captain does not head straight for the tunnel when his fans have stayed behind to clap them off DESPITE losing the 2nd half 5-1...

I'll tell you why he went straight down the tunnel, it was because for the last 10 minutes hill stuck him on the wing and had Done playing alongside Perkins. Obviously didn't like that, being on telly and all

    Yeah drop him

    Don't pick him

    Another one reading his mind

Another one forgetting about the passes he sees and delivers that nobody else in the team can

E.g. the one that went through that ended up with Drinkwater being brought down

who else makes room to shoot from midfield?

who else keeps blasting em in every now and then?

who makes us worth chuffing watching?

    Am I mad?

Re: to me, that says you didn't even go...

You see that is where you are not getting it. He is not being blamed for us losing at all, no where in the thread has he been blamed for us losing, only for going missing and not doing the captains job.
Also you are wrong about the needing to be there to see who is playing well, while you are at the match you dont see everything, you cant see as much as you do on tv, its impossible. A viewer sees a lot more of the game.
