Don confirmed the x 4 offer - I'm just guessing at current deal.

Lets hope Butts remembers he's had half a good season, he's a long way to go yet, its a bit of hope in that interview that he recognises that its not worked out for Adam.

    Re: And soon forgotten

On the positives, 2 footed, good shot, good passing. On the negatives, suspect attitude, not quick, not strong. I think, on balance, we would miss him. I don't know if he would make an impact in the prem, it would be a shame for him to sit on the bench at Wolves like Hammill, I can only imagine that Adam is not the player he was when he left us and was playing regular football, and I mean he'll not be as good. Sometimes its better to not take the first offer that comes along in order to become a better player and I think he will get better playing for Keith for another season. But then it can't be easy to think long-term when someones waving £20k a week in front of your face.

Re: I'll be desperately disappointed if he leaves

Players like Jacob Butterfield come along all too rarely. The last young player to come through the ranks with a similar level of skill to Jacob was Steve Agnew and that was 25 years ago. We just don't get this type of player very often.

The way he can receive the ball when under pressure and make space for himself to play the pass is a joy to watch. It's premier league class. And the top end of the premier league at that. That's not to say he's the finished article, because he's not, but at 21 he's only going to get better and better.

But I don't buy the theory that he would be stupid to move on. He sounds like he's got his head screwed on to me. He desperately wants to play at a higher level and he knows he'd get a lot more money for doing that, but he's still seriously considering staying at Barnsley because he knows he's working under a good manager and he knows a big move can go sour. It's a massive decision for him. I wish him all the luck in the world whatever he decides. I don't know what the right decision is, I just know as a Barnsley supporter I'd love to see him continue his progression with us. I love watching him play.

Is the best player the club has produced since the youth set up gained it's Academy status. There are aspects on his game that need to be worked on, but that applies to nearly every 21 year old player. I find it baffling that some people prefer to concentrate on a young lad's so-called failings, whilst conveniently ignoring their strong points. Noble-Lazarus has already had this on here despite only being 18.
Having said all that, if Butterfield goes, he goes. I'll be sorry to see him leave, but have confidence in Keith Hill ensuring Jacob's departure has minimal impact on the team and club. After all, according to some 'experts', we got shut of our only saleable asset asset in the summer and replaced him with lower league players, who were quite obviously not up to the task of Championship football. Hill proved them wrong and I believe he'll do so again, if they believe the potential sale of Jacob Butterfield will result in Barnsley slipping down the table and into a relegation battle.

I agree with Jay and Biglil. People underrated him so much. It's almost like they don't want him to be good. Also agree with biglil about Butterfield and RNL, why can't us the FANS get behind these very talented footballers. We are having a purple spell at the moment with the academy having a few good players (5 ish).
