He does have a point tho'

As a professional in whatever you do you want to be the best you can be.

While i'm passionate about tarn & love Oakwell to bits you've got to admit that it's not a patch on Old Trafford. (cue abuse)

Before you all start on me just think about the debates about what the board should do with the west stand, about having a social club in the ponte end etc, etc.

Ask any player, muscian, actor etc & they'll all tell you they'd want to play on the big stage in front of huge crowds etc.

Now if Oakwell was full with plenty of noise & atmosphere then maybe he'd be on dodgy ground but Oakwell hasn't been that since the good old days of the 80's. Last time i was there it was a pretty quiet.

    Does he

Shows a lack of respect IMHO.

Only shitpots would come out with such a statement.

If he was good enough he'd be in the premier league still.

    Why?

No-where in his statement does he refer to Barnsley being a shithole.

He says playing at Barnsley is not the same as playing at Man Ure.

If you're telling me that a professional footballer would rather play at oakwell then at Old Trafford then i think you're looking through rose tinted glasses.

Footballers are competitive, they want to play at the top. Sure they don't all make it, but they've got to want it.

    Because

further down he says he wanted the plane to crash because they had been relegated

because such statements are usually made by players with massive heeds.

because 95% of all professional footballers would be more than happy with playing in the championship.

    ok

he's feeling bad after being relegated. i can understand that, although saying he hoped for the plane to go down is abit OTT.

And maybe you're right, 95% of footballers are happy to play in the championship, but that doesn't stop them wanting to play on the big stage.

Why is there so much excitement around cup draw day?

Because the 'little' club wants to go & play at Old Trafford or Anfield or Emirates etc.

I don't think Histon were crossing their fingers hoping to get a chance to play at Oakwell.

In my view he was just being honest about how he was feeling at the time.

    What's going on here?

I can still remember my ears burning with this thread. And when did I claim to look like Brad Pitt? Actually it was George Clooney.
