He's a lower league journey man footballer trying to make as much money as he can until he retires. I can't fault him for that and lets say Oldham have offered him a three year contract and that amounts to more than we are paying him, who can fault him .
Every game. Because I don't rate him as highly as you doesn't mean I didn't watch him. His best 45 in a barnsley shirt was his last competitive one imo. Like I said there's a reason he's gone oldham and a reason he's never played any higher than league one.
Last season our strikers didn't score many at all compared to the other teams in the top 4. Our goals came from all over the pitch.
There has to be something else to this. If he was leaving to another team in our division or League 2 it would at least be comprehensible - after all, it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve dropped a big bollock. But to the national league? To a team that’s totally skint. What do those on the inside, not just at BFC but other EFL clubs too, know that we don’t? If the club don’t provide at least some level of transparency, they’re (quite rightly) going to get some severe pelters for this.
It’s a strange carry on. I was told several times by people that I’d consider in the know that the club wouldn’t be keeping him a second year right up until a few weeks before the end of the season. I don’t know the reason why, it could be attitude or wanting to bring sellable assets through or something else. Then all of a sudden he’s retained. My guess is that we got wind of other clubs interest in him & decided to trigger the 2nd year in the contract to try & get a transfer fee for him. We’ve then not had the expected bids come in but have essentially replaced him with the signings of Watters & Dallas to go with Cole & Shaw & now have too many forwards on the books so we’re trying to get him out. I think at 32 Norwood will just go wherever he can get a multi year contract. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s signed on loan with another year or two guaranteed on the back of that. I think it’s a bit poor from his point of view as you’d surely want to play as high up the leagues as possible but if Wrexham, Tranmere etc aren’t offering what you want & Oldham are he’s going to take it if it’s his last contract. It’s also worth noting that conference clubs aren’t subject to the same financial FairPlay rules as leagues one & two so they might actually pay decent wages.
There is nobody in the squad who will do what he would have done this season. Cole might have been top scorer but he wasn’t the most effective forward overall last season - and he went backwards in form too. Watters, Shaw, Jalo. Really? This is absolutely crazy whichever way you spin it. It really is.
That's what I don't get I'm not suprised he's off but to oldham in the national league who are totally skint last week people were saying if Wrexham want him 2million oldham won't have paid much if anything.
