Well well well, I wonder what the next controversy is? What a disaster of a pre season, fronted by an incept CEO.
To give credit where it's due, tying Connell down for a further 4 years is the best bit of business we've done in a long time (until we find out about the release clause).
It seems fairly obvious something has gone on and all will come out it due course. but of course the easiest thing to do is jump to the conclusion it’s because Khaled can’t do his job properly.
I can see ponty end chanting for board to go on Saturday. They are making some wierd ridiculous decisions
https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/2023/august/03082023-james-norwood-signs/ No idea but the security of possibly 3 years with them, will be worth more than the next year with us. Maybe he wanted a new longer contract with us and we wouldn't do it for him. It will all come out in the wash.
Everyone is different but if I was our CEO I would have explained to the fans by now why we have sold a key first team regular days before the season starts.
I kinda agree with you...but how much money will we receive here, I'm not convinced Oldham have a half decent amount of cash....which suggests he's gone for not much. The bigger question is (as always) do we have a half decent replacement lined up? Him playing most of the pre season then been allowed to leave imho means there's been a difference of opinion with him and the coach / owners.
Oldham must have given him the club !!! Players come and go but Norwood going down to the Conference is just a weird decision by him
Why release “a message from our CEO” trying to build enthusiasm for the new season and then later the same day sell a key striker?? This really is daft.
I’m not necessarily saying he has done something bad but that it is far to simple to just jump in and say it must be Khaleds fault. I’m not saying it isn’t but I am saying that we don’t know yet! It just seems a lot of posters have already jumped in two footed at Khaled without the full picture.
They literally need to explain this. Its not good enough to release a statement asking people to part with their money along with the 9,000+ who have done so already and then sell one of our starting forwards, to a National League side, 48 hours before the season starts, with no explanation. if its something beyond the clubs control, why not just say that? Its like they're trying to antagonise supporters further by remaining totally silent on the circumstances leading to this. I think the only thing that will mitigate this is if they've got a "big" name lined up for tomorrow. But then its Barnsley, so they'll either remain silent on the issue and continue providing updates on the new beer system, or at best we'll bring in an academy player from a premier league club
