RE: Sorry for being ignorant A forward/striker who apparently can also play on the wing. Maybe he's a 'forward' rather than a 'striker' if you get what I mean.
Offer from us 400k. Two other undisclosed bids - this is according to his agent. Agent: Ward wants to play at the highest level. Would like to play in the Championship if it comes along. Confirmed by Chesterfield manager that bid has been received, agent understands bid will be looked on favourably. Barnsley are the sort of team he'd talk to. Couldn't agree new contract because he isn't highest earner at Chesterfield.
Barnsley have given a deadline. Agent would be surprised if CFC don't accept as they only paid 100k. 'I think it's a good offer, I would accept it.'
I'll tell you what he's not a left footed left back. That should be enough to get you chuntering whilst rolling a tab.
be good if we got him becuase he's young. if he banged in 8-10 goals in the 2nd half of the season we'd have £2m player on our hands who's only 22/23
RE: be good if we got him becuase he's young. Wern't we saying that not to long ago about a certain Michael Coulson, who was going to set the world on fire. The Championship is a tough league, many a player with great expectations as fallen by the way-side.
Who was the last player we signed from a lower league that made an impact here? We cannot afford to gamble - we need players with proven track records, yes they are more expensive and Ward could be a bargain and a hero but can we really affford to take that risk?
if there was a proven championship striker worth around £1-2m why would he come to us? this is the problem Davey has. If he is proven in our league then there about 15 other clubs in a financially better position to offer a contract than we are. Davey is not stupid.
