That's true but is it down to her? They won 20 out of 22 games the season before too and in the season before that (2021/22) they ended the season scoring 23 goals in the last 3 games
Wouldn’t argue with that, although I don't know how much influence she's had in that. But, and I know this is highly unfashionable and could see me potentially flayed, I don't have very much interest in the women's team. There are lots of teams under the BFC umbrella, various youth teams, reserve teams, women's teams, but the one that draws all the crowds and generates all the money, and the whole reason there is a club, is the men's first 11 who play in League 1. I was asking how she's been a breath of fresh air for the people who watch and support that team, or the success of that team, or even the finances generated by that team.
Surely having a successful women's team brings more women and inevitably kids into the orbit of the club. Medium to long term that can only be a good thing for the club as a whole. Women's football has made huge strides in the last ten to fifteen years. It's a phenomenon that's not going away and, while for many of us the men's first team will remain our main point of interest, it's great to see the club as a whole developing and embedding more closely with the community.
I would say her input into the ladies team.At the forums she attends she is always very professional and upbeat about our club. The design of the shirt.Love it or hate it she used her influence in the production.I just think her overall demeanor shines positivity.I don't think Jean Cryne would get as much abuse being the only other lady on the board. Maybe its because she's not Barnsley born and bred,I don't know but she doesn't deserve all the personal abuse.
I wouldn't argue with any of that, but while JAQ supports the women's team, I don't think there's any suggestion she's responsible for any of that. Maybe she is but I haven’t read that anywhere.
I honestly don't get the problem with her saluting the women's team. It's Barnsley FC , it represents our town. Tweeting about one part of it doesn't detract from another.
I'm not certain myself but I've always got the impression she's one of the primary movers behind it. Her company sponsors the shirts too I think. She certainly seems to comment on it quite a bit.
I wonder why none of the others put their head above the parapet then. They're damned if they do, and damned if they don't.
Moving through the womens pyramid the standard rises exponentially. This year's league was much tougher than the previous one, and next year is a step from amateur to semi-pro, so again a big lift in standards needed. Jess the coach has said a number of times that without being taken on by the parent club there's no way they would have won promotion this season. The availability of additional coaching, sports science and physio has brought the girls on leaps and bounds - anyone watching regularly will tell you the team that ended the season is light years ahead of the one that started it - yet it's virtually all the same girls. Add to that JAQ has put her own money into the venture, sponsoring the shirts through her own business.
Absolutely, she gets stick for being visible and the rest of the board get stick because "they nivver tell us nowt"
Who do the keyboard warriors think will want to purchase Barnsley FC if she did leave? Sooner or later I expect her to call their bluff and actually do it, and then let’s see how those wanting her to sell up feel.
She could have thanked Collins for getting us to the play offs, but she still hasn't, which I don't think is a good look.
