Brian talking. Sadly, but wonderful.. There can't be a real player alive, not feeling sad. Myself included.. So long, Master..
Great guitarist though he undoubtedly was, am I alone in having to turn off the radio whenever Hi Ho Silver Lining comes on? Or having to walk out of the room when DJs play it late on at functions when everybody’s pi$$ed? Cannot stand the flashbacks it gives me hearing the Massives sing it at the Pigsty. Interesting fact: Wolves adopted that song first. Nick owt them DeeDars.
I’ve got no evidence to support this theory, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Hi Ho Silver lining for Jeff Beck was in the same league as Shapes of things for Eric Clapton. That is, hated. In Clapton’s case he hated “Shapes” enough to leave the Yardbirds, citing it as a sellout.
That's pretty clear from the documentary I posted above. It sounds as though Mickie Most (producer) wanted to push Jeff in a 'pop' direction, but Jeff pretty soon found his own!
