I found this and tbh don't recall the outcome, or can't remember the fine re Angus Macdonald. Very costly. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56487648
I'm not sure that Tennis has had as many positive results as you would expect from a sport where competitors are regularly playing for 3-4 hours...
Oh aye, tennis is mucky as owt. Just look at when Djokovic suddenly turned into a monster over 5 sets when he discovered his "gluten allergy"...
I don’t think any out of contract footballers getting drug tested. There’s barely any in contract players getting tested. The drug testing in football is pathetic really. They don’t even do blood tests. They only do urine.
One famous Spanish tennis player was heavily rumoured to be a client of the Spanish doctor Fuentes in the mid-2000’s. Jorg Jaksche who was a cyclist & client of Fuentes claimed that he saw some of the biggest names in football whilst visiting Fuentes as well. For some reason only cyclists names were ever released but there were blood bags for many other clients & doping plans believed to be for Real Sociedad, AC Milan & Barcelona also found.
His suspension was confirmed by the FA and the UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) in a report which revealed he took steroids in a desperate attempt to counteract the weight loss caused by a long-term battle with Crohn’s disease, a debilitating bowel condition. It's a few years since I listened to the podcast, but he essentially said he was doing it for pain relief, and they actually caused him to gain weight and slow down. He didn't dispute that he was taking banned substances, but contested that they were performance enhancing, and disputed the length of the ban which was 3 times longer than any other footballer before him.
