    Have a rant

it'll be chip paper by next week, we're no different to any other football club, results business, no room for sentiment, new guy comes in, 2 full backs later and it'll be 'Wilson who?' if were moving up the league,

Not bothered enough anymore to rant just very disappointed there hasn't been the stomach to carry it through

It's deja vue a la Keith Hill no discernible rumblings at games ,at least hone games, just the rants of half a dozen key board warriors, yes I'm as disappointed as any fan how the season has gone but I'm now far more disappointed in our spineless board of directors for the actions they've taken today.

I've just had a couple of work related phone calls and e-mails that have put my mood into the danger zone, so I grabbed the iPad and took myself off for a five minute break to calm myself down. And now this!!!!!

I am going back to bed and starting today again I think. Absolute madness. So chucking a few hundred thousand to pay another few people off will help us will it? Of course, a new manager will want to get rid of all the players and recruit his own in the summer, so that takes more money. And shall we have the embarrassment of managers turning us down publicly again? This could well end up being a move that relegates us if we make the wrong decision.

And whatever happens, the real success story over the past few years at Oakwell has been the Academy, so please don't think that moving Branson and Burton to the first team is the best idea. Similarly, tell the new manager that those two are staying, in case he has any ideas to change it.

So Michael Appleton, Paul Ince, Carlton Palmer, Keith Curle et al will be sending their cvs in as we speak. Make the wrong appointment now and it may be the beginning of the end of my interest I'm afraid. I've just had a big moan because my company (the company that I work for, that is, I don't own it!) is going round in circles and making the same mistakes, so I am on the brink of walking out, and then I turned the iPad on...

It's been like going back in time and finding yourself on the deck of the titanic. Surely things can only get better.

It will never stop if results and performances are rubbish. Its the nature of the beast.

What was the alternative? Stick with the negative , dire, uninspired crap dished up week in week out or hope everything suddenly clicks into place?

I thank the club for having the balls to wield the Sword to end Wilson's reign.

Stability? Long term? Thats for the next manager. Until he gets the sack. The merry go round goes on.

Don't make me laugh; nobody running our club has got the first idea what this even is.

It's the right decision, but the timing of it is strange.

It's the right decision, because there's no sign that Wilson had arrived at, or was arriving at, an idea of how he wanted to play. Even with Keith Hill, you could say: I disagree with how he's going about things, but it's clear that he expects us to be a team which builds from the back with short passing, and the team will be made up of mainly lower-division bargains. With Flitcroft, you could say: he expects a high work-rate with a lot of pressing, and the emphasis is on attacking.

Wilson Mk II's Barnsley didn't pass well, didn't defend well, didn't use its full-backs well, didn't build through the centre of midfield, didn't use its wingers well. So, as much as I love Danny - and I do, and will continue to - I can't argue with the decision to sack him. We were going nowhere. Yes, we recently beat Port Vale and Oldham, but I came away from the latter thinking that we'd only done so due to some inherent quality in our players over theirs, and not because we'd been set up in a way to maximise our strengths relative to theirs.

There have been some truly shocking games. Not just results-wise, but performance-wise. Burnley at home? Long diagonal balls to O'Grady's head all night long. Crawley at home? Panicky football, go behind, and not have a clue how to turn it around? Leeds? Muster no threat at all in a game we absolutely could not afford to lose? And on and on it goes.

I don't have a problem with the decision. In modern football terms, he's had the financial backing, he's had a reasonable amount of time. I didn't expect to be any higher than mid-table, but I expected to be able to say: this is how we play, this is the kind of player we try to sign, this is how the manager tries to change a game when it's going against him. But there was never a clear vision. It was all very muddled.

The timing of it is awful, though. Give him the whole transfer window, and then win a couple of games to release the pressure of hovering just above the bottom four, then sack him? That's odd, and I don't get it.

I never wanted it to turn out like this. Danny is and remains the greatest-ever. Nobody will do again what he did. He's a decent bloke, and the memories of his first time round won't ever leave me.

It's as though your really fit wife had the tea on the table pronto, and had a really dirty mind to boot. She ran away with some dee-dar at some point in the late 1990s, though. Now she's back, but she's put four stones on, gone vegetarian, and you get to sleep with her once every six months. Sorry, love. You've changed. I still cherish what we had, but I hope you understand that I've got to move on.
