Re: This whole situation stinks If it ain't illegal, thereev would do the same.... **** paying tax if u don't have to break the law. Fek Cameron and his bunch of hypocritical c@nts n all. Carry on jimmy old lad. Hth
Re: This whole situation stinks When compared to Philip Green, Jimmy Carr is small potatoes. He 'avoided' over £200m by paying his dividend to his wife who lives in Monte Carlo. Cameron and his cronies are complicit by not closing these loop holes, just as Blair and Brown were. In it together ? Aye reight !
Re: Context. Agreed. I have a client who registered for vat late. The client has a bill for £10k AND a penalty of £1K. Genuine mistake. They won't budge on the penalty at the moment. I think I may use the vodaphone defence and ask them to accept £2k in total.
Re: This whole situation stinks Completely agree the vast majority of tory donors manage to avoid paying tax at the levels they should - its all legal if immoral but no one singles out people. The prime minister shouldnt be naming names on what is essentially a provate matter - thats for journalists to do if anyone. remind me how many billions did the tax man agree to forget about with Vodafone last year... and lets be honest how many of us if we knew we could legally avoid paying tax because someone didnt draft the tax laws properly would turn it down on moral grounds -
Re: Context. Absolutely - in any other walk of life the attitude shown by HMRC to small co. v large ones would be classed as bullying..
