Maybe the government should look into the self employed workers in our country and our they're ripping off the government with their tax returns & tax credits.

Jimmy Carr and many other have found a loophole, the government may have opened a can of worms with this one.

Good point. I reckon there's a handful of S/E people on here judging by their comments.

TBH think theres alot of difference between somebody getting a bit back (which given a chance I think most would go with) and avoiding the fecking system altogether, yes they should plug the loopholes for individuals and corporate bodies but personally I would name and shame everybody they catch at this one

They explained this scam on the radio this morning. Basically an offshore company is set up to "employ" the person and then pays them a minimum wage, the rest of the money is then "loaned" to them but which such conditions on it that it's not repayable, so effectively they end up paying 1% in tax.
It's exploitation of a system that is not designed for how they are using it, shouldn't be too difficult to find a way of making this illegal.
And yes I am angry at the people that do this, because they are morally reprehensible. I can honestly say that if someone came to me and suggested such a scheme I would not take part in it because I could see it was wrong. We aren't talking about people avoiding a few hundred pounds in tax here, we are talking about them thinking it is entirely ok for them to pay £5,000 in tax instead of £100,000.
I don't care if it's a legal loophole or not, I have tax deducted at source, I can't avoid paying my tax and these leeches should be tracked down and made to pay the correct amount of tax as well.

Not to mention the fact that Jimmy Carr on the 10 O'clock show made a big deal about companies exploiting tax loopholes and was naming and shaming them, the fecking hypocrite!

8 out of 10 cats is shockingly scripted as Jason Manford said, but it'll be interesting what makes the top 5 things people are talking about this week!

I'm not defending him but it is entirely likely that he employs an accountant to deal with this sort of thing and many of these excel in doing this kind of thing, and he might not have been fully aware, at least not at the start.
