His policies also leave a lot to be desired. Inflation there is going to be off the charts with the trillions of hand outs to people who don’t need it

He instills more confidence than Trump did, and more importantly he's actually put people in charge of federal government departments that know what they're doing.

He doesn't. He's in his late seventies. And yet there was literally no one else capable of beating Trump as they'd have been tarred as socialist/communist. Bernie Sanders was by far a better choice but would never have won.

Are you suggesting Trump wasn't doing exactly the same thing?
And I agree, the handouts were not targeted right but Donald was throwing it around like confetti too. It's only now they've lost power that the Republicans have suddenly recovered their horror at spending money.

Didn't give much help to families and businesses during the pandemic either compared to Rishi here with the 80% and he's left Afghanistan in the lurch having troops leave during the night on the sly.

I wasn’t referencing Trump at all as we can just judge a politician’s performance in silo without comparing. Did Trump throw it around like confetti? Inflation risks weren’t there, he regularly battled with Pelosi on stimulus check demands, and the economy was a lot stronger. Certainly not the reports you’re seeing now.

That doesn’t mean Trump was high performing. But on this his performance doesn’t really matter does it?

Again...no one is saying Biden is perfect.
I'll leave Trump out of it so suggest who would get elected to do a better job. You can't because the US is broken and will not elect someone progressive. People keep throwing their hands in the air like there's an alternative. At the moment the only alternative is even more unpalatable.
I'd choose Biden over Trump every time. There's probably 100k Americans who'd still be alive if Biden had been in charge since the start of covid.

This is a bit of a reach. You might be right, but you can’t say it with great confidence. The same Biden and Pelosi that criticised Trump for shutting the borders down earlier than most other countries around the world, telling people to continue to go out and be free and walk around China Town. The same Harris who said she wouldn’t get a vaccine if Trump told her to. The same Biden team that have lost control of the borders which isn’t helping Covid. The same Biden who goes on CNN and says you can’t catch Covid if you’re vaccinated.

There’s faults everywhere you look like there always is. But obviously Biden is more palatable so gets an easier ride.

Over 80% of the US open and trading normally. But aviation and business being absolutely crippled by the band on the UK and Europe. That’s not saving lives.

    And yet again you equivocate.
I'm not going to go round in circles. You clearly prefer Trump despite trying to deny it because you do this every single time this subject comes up.
It's a real world binary choice..Trump or Biden. For all their faults I'll go with Biden over Trump same as I would Starmer ove r Johnson and Joe Bloggs over Bolsonaro.
Stop treating people like idiots. We know the Democrats are flawed and anchoted to corruption almost as much as Republicans. It's just much the lesser of two evils.

Not really. You said something that I struggled to agree with and I provided examples of what it might not be right. Nothing more than that really and you don’t have to think I’ve got valid points. But I’m not feeding you any spin, and as always little is discussed in terms of the points mentioned.

This obsession that criticising something means supporting the other side is a strange discourse. I find Biden awful. I understand why others think the same about Trump, but the former President doesn’t really matter when critiquing the performance of the current one.

To be fair, sentences like this do imply that you support/prefer Trump:

Only if you’re looking for something, which tends to be the case in these threads.

It could easily mean, like it was intended to be without being war and peace, that I respected people having that opinion on someone as a stand-alone view with no comparison in sight. Just like my opinion on Biden is. On his performance right now, in my opinion.

Fair enough. I was just pointing out that sentences like that do imply that you prefer Trump, and people aren't drawing inferences from nothing.

Plus I can't recall you ever criticising Trump in a similarly dismissive way as "I find him awful". I remember you repeatedly championing balanced views, so when you offer such an unequivocal opinion on his successor people are understandably going to draw inferences from that.

Possibly. But at the same time if you go looking for something in a thread you’re more than likely going to find it when tone and manner are missing - especially where it’s a pre-determined opinion on what someone thinks.

But again, that doesn't mean he's competent just because he is seen by some as preferential to Trump, or seen as 'instilling more confidence' (which many in America would say is debatable). This is the presidency, not story time with grandad.Trump has left the arena, time to move on. If this is what America is left with, I have no words..

Biden is just so obviously suffering from dementia and it’s painful and horrible and awful to watch.

None of this ‘but Trump’ nonsense. We know Trump was an objectionable, horrible cuunt, that has nothing to do with this.

That doesn’t excuse having a guy who is so obviously ill in that sort of position. It’s sick and cruel and weird and indefensible.

How anyone can see Biden as a worse (or equally bad) choice as Trump, is beyond me.
