Never been to a World Cup and would love to go to one, but not in Qatar. Never had any desire to visit the Middle East, what with the political unrest and violence not to mention the awful religious laws etc....
Just think he could have spent £10k with a glossy marketing agency and got nowhere near this much attention. Money well spent.
have to say, I've not followed the story at all. however I've just heard Nadine Dorries criticising him. by definition, that means I agree with whatever it is he's done.
I get your point but for me, this is an issue that was already well publicised. For 10k you could maybe take one homeless person off the streets for good and set their life back on track. Also a stunt like this doesn't actually convert any undecided it just hands out red meat to the gammons like the person who started the thread. Anyway what's done is done.
I understand what he's done - but the only caveat I have is, why Beckham? Why not Neville? Who plenty of people have turned against for all his talk about human rights, gay rights etc & then accepting god knows how much for working for Qatar - is it not the principal what matters? Or is it just the amount of money?
The reason Lycett has shredded the money is that he linked it to Beckhams credibility being shredded by working for the Qatari government. As an aside, this is why Beckham is getting more stick than Neville, Beckham is working for the government as opposed to Neville working for Qatari TV. Subtle, but different. All my opinion BTW, no basis in fact.
As I said earlier in the thread, he faked it. He's great at getting publicity as he's shown in the past like when he was on Packed Lunch. https://www.instagram.com/tv/ClOMLKuIY0r/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
Heard Beckham already given his 10 million to gay charity, will make Lycett look like a right Wally then ,watch this space
I would have to fact check your claim, but assuming it's correct, do you think it's morally right for David Beckham to bank £150m from Qatar, then donate £10m of that to 'gay charity'?
£15m a year for 10 years was what I read. Given Qatar's readiness to move the goalposts at very short notice, he shouldn't expect to see the next 9 years worth.
