No Roberts and MacDonald whole game at Wigan; at Bristol Roberts went off at HT but was replaced by Evans as Jackson was injured
I think we are all sadly going to have to come to terms that Roberts will be gone by the end of the week. However, I think he will go with our blessings for he has served the club well. Onwards and upwards is the best approach. Remember how sad we were when Alfie went but we soon got over that. This is football. Good to see the CEO is now holding new arrivals to three year deals.
I love Angus, I really, really do and think he's a top lad and player but he struggled when Robbo was injured towards the end of the season and was left wanting against the bigger more physical centre forwards. By Angus's own admission Chris Martin gave him an absolute schooling at Fulham, for example. Angus needs (a) Robbo! Robbo was the most dominant defender in the air in the whole division last season and statistically the highest rated. We would miss him more than I think some appreciate and, money-wise, getting relegated would lose us more than the mooted transfer fee for Marc. Any transfer fee at this stage would be reflective of his remaining contract length, rather than his value to us which is well north of £5m imho. I tend to support the club on most fronts, including getting what money it could in the January 2017 sales, but the one big culpability is surely the failure to tie up contracts last summer. Have we even offered Robbo a decent new contract? If there was one player I'd break our current wage structure for, it's our dominant skipper. Alas, if he does go, then I really hope it's to the Prem. I'm sick of us selling off our jewels to the clubs that could put the nails in our coffin!
Some newspapers are saying Birmingham are set to return with a £5 million offer for Roberts and the other Club interested could well be Derby County.!
I love robo but if the offer 5 million we should say yes. Only one year left on his deal now is the time to sell and that's a good offer imo
I would rather sell him for less to a premier league club than sell him to a championship rival. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It'll be gutting if (when) he goes but I've got confidence in Jackson, MacDonald and Lindsay plus perhaps another to cover the loss Jackson's made a few mistakes in games last season but I'd have him and Angus as our main central defensive partnership at the start of next season
Barries mate big john will be brought in to replace Mark Roberts...the bum on seats signing no need to question his defending...player coach role ...will fly out with the club to Hungry ...watch this space....just a hunch or was it a whisper mmmm Where's whitey when you need him lol
