plus Anderson looks poor unless he has a solid player right / left side Styles has looked very poor this season, im not sure if its confidence, form or capability
He is. He genuinely is. I mean, don't get me wrong, Jordan Williams is an appallingly bad footballer. Just shocking. But, believe it or not, Vita is even worse. Difficult to believe you would pay money to someone to do this for a living who is even worse than Jordan, but we do. That's how good we are at spotting talent.
I’ve no reason to doubt you, but how do you know? I didn’t go to the Barrow game, non the less I think it’ll be harsh to judge on that alone. Other than that we’ve only seen him do kick ups at half time. Have you seen him in other games? Anyway, I’m led to believe we have a buy out option, be prepared for him to become a permanent addition.
Jordan Williams is a 22 year old right wing back / right full back, who’s development has been hampered by a combination of injury, not finding a consistent position and the general disarray at the club this season. He looks like he’s lost a yard of pace, which is a worry, but the whole squad has gone backwards, so you have to imagine the problems are more deep rooted. The players have let us down, but the club have let the players down massively with the environment that appears to have been created at the club. Specifically on the forest game. Putting Williams at left back, with seemingly no protection in front of him, against Spence and Johnson, was just negligent. They’ll have caused plenty of experienced left backs problems this season. Oh, and we sold our only out and out left back, at the same time that we shifted to a back 4. What a club.
In fairness to Willians he was clearly fouled. Blatantly pushed over by a big, strong player. I can’t believe a ref can’t see something as obvious as that.
Vita’s tiny. He can’t play left back in a back 4. He’d get bullied. I can only assume our scouting system missed the height off his stats because there’s no way a player of that size & stature can be playing left back in the championship.
Would have been a very soft foul had that been given imho. Loses his footing very easily and there was no complainant from williams or the other players.
scapegoat /ˈskeɪpɡəʊt/ noun 1. a person who is blamed for the wrongdoings, mistakes, or faults of others, especially for reasons of expediency. I’m not sure Moon, Williams or even Woodrow have ever been blamed for anyone else, just themselves. There’s a difference between scapegoating and highlighting someone being consistently crap. It isn’t Jordan Williams’ fault he’s been picked at left back. It isn’t his fault he’s not very good there, arguably anywhere - though he did look ok as one of three centre backs briefly last season. The yard of pace he seems to be lacking I reckon is down to confidence and belief, not a physical thing. But him lacking confidence isn’t a reason to pretend all is fine to make him feel better. He’ll know himself his performances have been poor. Similarly, it isn’t Jasper Moon’s fault he’s had more positions than the Karma Sutra and that he’s not good enough - or at least not ready. The players aren’t to blame for their selection and where they are selected. That doesn’t exclude them from criticism when they consistently do the same things and don’t learn or improve. They certainly aren’t being scapegoated either, as the plight of the team is most definitely not being put at their feet. It is clear where the blame lies. But again, this doesn’t mean that as football fans we can’t highlight weaknesses with the players in the team.
I think they were resigned to defeat by then & knew it wouldn’t make a difference. Just can’t believe a player can obviously push someone like that to set up a goal & it stands yet Kane’s is disallowed the other day for the tiniest of ‘pushes’. On the plus side it didn’t make any difference
Ive watched it again mate it didnt look a blatent foul to me there both running along side each other looks more of a coming together and williams already looked off balance. If we had a goal disallowed against us at oakwell for that i wouldnt have been happy.
I agree Williams not a championship fullback but it must be impossible to look good with iseka on your side . Watched the game upto 2-0 couldn't stomach any more but that lad is bone idle the notts comms saying get it out Johnson quickest player and William's getting no help and they were spot on ,not sure what system we trying to play but they thought we were playing 4 up front, I think the poster who said the players didn't rate schopp or poya must have it right as this arnt trying at all.
But what we don't know is how Williams and Moon would fare if given a run in the side, in the same position, instead of being shunted around because others are seemingly incapable of playing different positions. Williams isn't the only full back that will be turned inside out against Forest. But they won't score many easier goals then their first, which had nothing to do with either Moon or Williams. With Andersen trying to lay the ball off to Helik, who for some reason stood square of him. And marking players seems to be forbidden at the club as we see again with the second and third goals. We've a setup that has seen Williams, Helik, Brittain, Styles, Palmer, Woodrow and possibly Andersen play nowhere near as well as they did last season. Then expected Kitching, Moon and Benson to come into that setup. Questions need to be asked about why we tried to change the style of play, then when we were recruiting a new coach, we just doubled down on that and went with more of the same.
